Don't get me wrong, I'm a MASSIVE Disney fan, ut I read the original fairytales at a young age, and I just adore them.

i personally always love the books before the movies (becuz i read them all and am obsessed wit reading) but sice you watch these movies @ a yung age lots o good ol memories are made, like watching wit the whole fam-damn-ily. LIKE MY SISSY, *BLACKPARADE*

I saw all these films when I couldn't read yet, so when I read the stories now they remember me of the things happening in the films..

I adore the original tales (all very well written and creative), but many of them don't have happy enough endings for me. When I feel the urge for a fairy tale, I watch a Disney movie. When I feel the urge to escape reality, I'll read a fable/fantasy book. When the latter is occurring, there is no need for a happy ending and I just need to get out of myself for a while. For the former, I need to imagine love at its purest, and believe in happily ever after, if only for the length of a movie.

i love the disney movies cause there nice and they bring you to another world when you watch them e.g Enchanted

Dark, Twisted fairytales are fantastic! I love how they all have morals, and are more realistic than the disney films, even though they're dealing with the supernatural.

Disney is great and all, but the original stories just blow you away. Makes the cartoons look like major fluff-fests.

I really detest Disney. They ruin the stories for me, glossing them over with their sappy "happy-endings". But I adore the original tales. I agree with CalantheRose, dark, twisted tales are the best!

They are better than the original.

Disney is cute and has lovely music. But the original faerie tales touch on the dark traits of humanity in a way that Disney never could. They are much more visceral and timeless.

Fairy tales are like collected folk stories. They were meant to be scary and gory.

Well ont all, like the little mermaid, it was said that had to die but in the disney films, it was awesome. I wish classic disney would be back :D!!!!

Although I do enjoy the Disney versions too, you can't really compare them.
I mean look at Alice in Wonderland. The original was exponentially better.

The originals had more depth, better rhetoric, and WAY better art. All the Disney versions are just wackier, childish parodies.

This is a difficult question! In some cases I prefer the Disney version (like Aladdin for example) while in other cases I prefer the original (Snow Queen or Rapunzel) and there is the case of my favourite: The Beauty and the Beast, because I adore both the original and the Disney version just because of different traits. I can1t decide...

It depends. I like Disney Tangled (Rapunzel story), The Little Mermaid, and Sleeping Beauty more than the original tale, but I like the original stories for Snow White, Frozen (Snow Queen story), and Princess and the Frog (Frog Prince story) more than the Disney versions. :)
