As I held Esme in my arms I felt like this is were i belonged.When I finally let her go she looked up at me I could see the Liebe radiating out from her like heat waves coming up from the asphalt on a hot summer day. It felt as if hours had passed but it had only been a few Minuten at the most.
"What took Du so long?" she asked
I laughed.
"There were a few things i had to take care of first."At this very moment I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her I loved her unconditionally.But she was human...I would not bring her to this life,I couldn't bring myself to do it.She didn't deserve to be a vampire.I would wait until when i did not know.
She and I walked to a clearing about half a mile away from her cottage.The clearing was overflowing with flowers. I sat down in the clearing. Esme was looking at me curiously.
"What are Du doing? It's freezing out here."
I had not noticed how cold it was, although I never really did.
"Just sit with me for a few minutes,please."
"Okay,but if i get pneumonia Du have to cure me."
We laughed.
"Are Du ok?" she asked
"Yes, why?"
"You are freezing!"
"Oh, uhm, thats just poor circulation."
"Oh."
We sat in silence for a little while. It was long enough for my mind to start to wander.
"Carlisle?" I heard it sounded so distant I wasn't sure if I was imagining it of if it was real.
" Carlisle?!?"
"Esme?"
"Oh my gosh Du scared me.I thought Du were in a different world there for a while."
"I kinda was."
"What were Du thinking about?"
"Us."
"Oh"
"Lets get Du in the house Du are getting cold."
I walked her to the house and made sure she was ok. Just as I was getting into my car. She called my name.
"Carlisle."
"what can I do for Du Esme?"
"Stay with me."
"I am sorry but I can't ,I have to work in the morning, but Du are welcome to come Home with me tonight."
"Are Du sure I wouldn't be imposing?"
"I am extremely sure."
"Okay."
We get in the car and go back to my home.After I get her seatled into one of my guest rooms I go down stairs, and think about how to keep her in my life. I look at the clock,time to get ready to go to work.
All Tag I couldn't keep focused on my work. Esme had consumed my thoughts. I was sitting in my office.When my thoghts were interupted
"Dr.Cullen?"
"Yes"
"It's time for Du to sign-out."
"Ok, thank Du Mia?"
"Dr.Cullen."
"Yes,Mia?"
"Were is Du engagment ring?"
"We broke it off."
I got up and left.When I got Home Esme was sitting on the sofa, she looked up and smiled. She really looked like she belonged there.
Thats when I knew that I would Have to Propse to her and soon, but how soon?
