I sincerely think had Jasmine been the streetrat and Aladdin brought up a prince, there'd be a much bigger gap in cleverness.

I couldn't decide, so I basically asked my mom and she said Aladdin, so....

It's pretty close, but Jasmine loses points because she didn't realize Jafar was hypnotizing her dad RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER for what I'm going to say is years, and Aladdin figured it out in like, a second. It doesn't necessarily say that Jasmine's stupid, it just shows us she's a bit less clever than Aladdin.

@giregirl1515- I KNOW! that one part I never understood with Jasmine. She's so smart otherwise, how did she not get it?

^^because otherwise there would have been no villain. if Jasmine had realized it as soon as Aladdin did, then Jafar would have been gone years ago, and 75% of the plot and drama would be gone.

^^ obviously. Maybe it's the fact that Jafar only does it when Jasmine's not around.

She learnt how to pole vault in seconds. I very much doubt that was in the sort of private tutoring she must have been given in the palace.
Also, I assume Jafar had been hypnotising the Sultan subtly for years. You don't notice subtle changes. And let's be honest; what sort of person sits there and thinks "They're acting strangely - THEY MUST BE HYPNOTISED!"
