I really would like to see a little more of her though, she isn't royalty, but they did put her in the franchise so it would be nice to see her represented more. She'd be the one whose products I'd be most likely to give to my sister but I don't see many about.
I think both Mulan and Pocahontas need to be in it more. Disney chose to call the franchise 'Princesses' even though they knew they wanted to include characters who were not Princesses (Cheif's daughter is I would say equel status, but still not technically a Princess) but they don't often include Mulan or Pocahontas in the merchandise. They need to make their minds up, either they want the Princesses to only be actual princesses, in which case they shouldn't have made the choice to say it was just a name and add non Princesses to the line up in the first place, or they want it to just be a name and be able to include non Princesses, in which case they should fairly represent all the line up in the merchandise.
I think Mulan and Pocahonats are great, and it's a shame the others seem to get favoured just because you can throw them in a pretty dress more believably than these two. I bet if Mulan and Pocahontas both wore gowns all the time in their movies they'd be in the merchandise more. I think the people in charge underestimate young girls a bit. They seem to think a girl would rather have a girly, dressed up doll of a character they think is ok than a less sparkly doll of a character they love, but that's not been my experience. When I was little I'd have chosen a Mulan doll over a Cinderella doll any day (I do like Cinderella, but I like Mulan more) little girls may like the sparkles, but they aren't just magpies, they do form opinions on the characters, but Disney only want to sell them the girlier dolls regardless of character popularity.
Mulan doesn't get the represenation she deserves either. She's part of the franchise. Just because she's not a "real princess" doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to be part of the merchandise.
