BY FAR! Frozen is awful and a complete waste of the potential of The Snow Queen. The writing is beyond lazy, the characters are so standard and poorly written, there is no character development, the backstory is flawed, it's contrived, it's cliched, the relationships aren't convincing, the romance is lame and unnecessary, it mocks old Disney movies, it has TONS of plotholes, it's sexist against men, it does nothing new, the villains are pathetic, the humor is horrid, and it fails as both a good adaptation and a good stand alone movie. The only good things about it are the animation and the songs.

The Snow Queen on the other hand is a BILLION times better than Frozen. It shows the relationship between a male character and a female character that isn't a romance (depending on which version, their either just friends or brother and sister) but are still dedicated to each other with their love. THAT IS SOMETHING UNIQUE! The journey is hard but life changing and also engaging, the characters are likable and it's understandable why they are the way they are, the writing is brilliant, The Snow Queen (depending on which version) is a pretty cool villain that I wish Disney had brought to life instead of making her a sad case of misunderstanding and a blank slate, and it does what Frozen was trying to do but failed at and actually does succeed in doing it.

By default because I've never read The Snow Queen, but from the synopsis I read online it sounds like a great story.

Disney made the right choice in making the queen related to the protagonist when they made frozen, otherwise the story itself is very predictable and empty, they made the story have more depth and made the snow queen herself much more interesting as a character, rather than just being this big bad flat villain. I completely understood why disney had shelved the story for so long, the story of the snow queen by itself just wasnt solid enough to make a movie about it....frozen is a huge improvement

I haven't read it, but what I heard from what I heard. That the main villain barely gets any screen time EVEN THOUGH IT'S NAMED AFTER HER!!!!!!The story which I read a little summary on wiki is pretty flat, basic and something trying to sound complex, but just comes off as boring;same can probably be said for the characters as well. Not that it sounds bad, what the heck it sounds horrible. I think I watched the 2006 version as well, and it was a little different, though I think the adaptation sounded pretty faithful to the original. (and it wasn't really that good of the movie) I know I shouldn't be judging it on research alone, but yeah it sounds pretty bad so, don't expect me to read it.

A more diverse cast, doesn't try to tear down other stories (hint hint, Jennifer Lee), more interesting overall.

and really, you guys aren't even going to read it? it sounds far from horrible but you decided it is anyway because you don't want to sway from Frozen and admit it might be better than that?

What Audrey said. What a way to judge a book by its cover, eh?

@AadreyFreak It's not horrible in your opinion, but to me it sounds horrible. I never said I'm judging it off as bad that's why I'm saying the word "sounds", I'm also not exactly judging the book by it's cover if I do have at least have a good enough understanding of it to know what I'm getting into when I'm reading it. I'm at least gave it enough of a chance to know what it's.(which is something I didn't before I saw this poll)So, no I'm in no way judging by how it looks wither what I'm expecting it to be. For me personally it's not Andersen's fault that it sounds cliched and stupid, it's because how old it is.Like most classics else the adaptations are important so, it wouldn't age badly and be forgotten about; And in this case the subject being made at least 200 years ago, probably didn't age well.

And yes I would in fact admit The Snow Queen is better if I thought it sounded better, but do to ageing I don't really think I can clearly compare the two because of the huge time gap between them, so saying which one is better is going to be a lot harder to do.Besides I know Frozen has faults and I will admit that Frozen isn't prefect. In fact I did make a pretty long rant on two of it's characters.

I do actually try to be as reasonable and as unbiased as possible. That's always my first priority when comparing something or making an article,so I want to make sure you know I'm not that type of Frozen fan that everyone is stereo-typing most of the fans to be like.

As much as I like the movie, I'm still disappointed that we will never get a Disney movie closer to the original. It has always been one of my favorite fairy tales.
