^ Slytherin is famous for producing idealistic people who get caught up in the material things in life and single-mindedly pursue their goals. The only exception to the "sophistication" in canon is Severus Snape, but he still has big ideas.

And either way, if you go strictly by what was said in the books, you may as well say that a Slytherin value is "racism".
