Brainwashing.

I also don't get why Pocahontas and Brave are as bad as he says they are (or, his reasons as to why he thinks they're bad). And i don't get why he thinks Aladdin is bad.

He doesn't think Aladdin is bad, he loves Aladdin. It's just that the whole novelty it had with the pop culture references has worn off on him since he was a kid. He still loves Aladdin, just not as much as something like Beauty and The Beast and The Little Mermaid. As for Pocahontas and Brave, I think he's more neutral about them because he did describe Brave as "Ehhh" and said that Pocahontas wasn't doing anything awful, besides rewriting history but that history itself already did that.

No, his mayor complaint from Pocahontas is that he found it a bit boring and predictable, that he grew up watching after-school specials of the Native Americans and the Settles and that's why he found the movie boring. Maybe it's because i'm not from the USA, so I didn't grow up watching those stories, but I don't find the movie boring or bland. The historical inaccuracies are hard to stomach, yeah, but I don't think it's a snooze-fest of a film.

Finding something boring and predictable doesn't always mean someone finds it bad, he says that he doesn't find it that bad. I never cared about something being historically inaccurate because kids are going to learn the truth in school As a kid I didn't even know that Pocahontas and Anastasia were real people until I found out in school or my mother told me. If you wanna see insulting historically inaccurate animated films, go look at the three Titanic movies. The animated movies of Pocahontas and Anastasia are fairy-tales to kids, who will eventually learn the truth, so there is no use in anyone gripping about the historical inaccuracies of the films. Their job is to entertain, not be educational. I definitely disagree with him on Pocahontas and Frozen, but I'm not sure which one I disagree with more.

I really don't like the Nostalgia Critic, so let's just say that I disagree with all of the videos.

Especially in combination with Frozen...I mean, he complained so much about Tangled and about not being "updated" enough, but then gives Frozen credit for Anna's quirky character when she is actually just a variation of Rapunzel. I also have a huge problem with the "celebrity voice" complain. I honestly have no idea where this idea that it is somehow a bad thing to use actors or singers for voice acting is a bad thing. That's what Disney always did. They always had a healthy mix of pure voice actors, singers and actors.

So Doug is one of those annoying fans who can't shut up about Frozen? Well at least he's honest about it! I saw the film when it premiered so there was virtually no hype surrounding it. My initial response was that it was cute and the kids will love it. I instantly noticed the plot issues and lack of character development but the animation was nice and the songs (except for Fixer Upper) were good. I'm still astounded as to how for me, such a mediocre movie became such a global phenomenon. Maybe it's because we've haven't had a Disney musical that felt this epic (or at least tries to be) since The Lion King, but at least that film had great storytelling and wonderful characters. Frozen tries to one-up Tangled and upend fairy tale cliches while still clinging onto newer cliches. But that hasn't stopped people from loving it. Maybe it pushed what we expect from Disney just enough that people thought it was groundbreaking. Maybe social media played a role in spreading its popularity (those countless Let it Go parodies), maybe the characters were relatable enough yet undeveloped enough that people could project onto them. I still don't see the allure. The whole movie is just a mess, but I guess it's an honest and endearing mess.

It's the only Disneycember I don't agree with AT ALL. I actually really like Nostalgia Critic, but HOW can he say that Frozen doesn't make the lesson it teaches OBVIOUS? In Enchanted, he says that they kind of throw it in our faces but in Frozen "it feels so natural"!

I personally wouldn't be so harsh (i know, i know, what a shocker) but he just went full on fanboy for this movie. And anytime there was the possibility of bringing up flaws of the film he just brushed them off and said "well this movie deserves to be a classic! It's better than Twilight and Transformers! X Movie did this one cliche worse but Frozen is allowed to also do it!!!!!" He's living in denial for the massive flaws this movie has (and no, it's not "its popularity" that makes people dislike it). And then adding it to his top 10/top 5 Disney films...

SMH...well, at least he actually thinks Maleficent is bad, and considering that one follows the same pattern of Frozen, i thought he'd dislike both. (or heck, i thought he'd be neutral/critical towards Frozen, sorta like he was with Tangled and Lion King (considering Frozen borrows a lot from Tangled, and Frozen is the new lion king in terms of Disney hits) but man...)

Yeah, considering how kind he was toward Maleficent originally, he really changed his mind on that one. And I am all with him, the movie sucks!!!!!
To be fair, I think a lot of people don't really dislike the movie, they just think that it is only "okay" and actually dislike that a fairly mediocre Disney movie gets so much attention, when so many which are way more deserving just get overlooked. Plus, there is this whole idea that movies of the likes of Brave and Frozen send a powerful feministic message when they actually more trying than actually doing it.

And now he says BH6 is super predictable and boring and cliche...Saying how it's boring that all the main characters are tropes that he's seen before...And yet for some reason he seems purposely trying to ignore the fact that Frozen also follows A LOT of cliches when making their movie. At least BH6 isn't as pretentious as Frozen is with its message
