Keeping in mind that "good" or "bad" are a matter of personal taste, I can very well acknowledge that I think a film is high quality, but still not care for it. Just look at Pixar. Most of their films are very well-made, and I still don't care for them at all.

Yeah, Pixar is a good example. I never got into the Toy Story trilogy at all, but I totally get what people see in it. Finding Nemo mostly bored me, but it is a good movie, it just didn't strike the right cord with me.

it's hard a lot but I can admit when a movie I don't like actually has substance/plot is well written/character arcs exist/characters are complex/symbolism/beautiful and haha that pixar example though (i actually like those movies but my broski said " All the really good pixar movies are good in a boring kind of way" lol but basically his way of acknowledging that while they may be well made they don't click with him)
