I have only seen Brave once, so I don't really have a fully formed opinion of Merida yet. I haven't thought it through deeply, but my current feeling is that Merida and Rapunzel are pretty similar. They're both basically normal girls who are suffocated by unreasonable domineering mothers.

Despite those similarities, I don't feel an personal connection to Merida's story the way I feel about Rapunzel. I love Rapunzel.
