There is so much to be sagte about Frozen. Personally, this movie has really struck a chord with me. Watching it was SUCH an emotional experience, and I really connected with several of the characters. But, I will get into all that of that "emotional" stuff...LATER. For now, I will give my honest, critical review of Frozen.

BASIC PLOT
Two sisters, Anna and Elsa, are driven apart Von a dark secret. When a charming prince enters the picture, their relationship is put to the test. Personality conflicts come to a head, and Elsa flees their kingdom. Anna enlists the help of a mountain man, a reindeer, and a talking snowman in order to find her estranged sister and set things right.

MUSIC
All right, so the first thing that pops into my head are the SONGS. Oh my, the MUSIC! I do not think Frozen has the best soundtrack of any Disney movie, but it certainly is amazing. Especially the score. Christophe Beck, who composed the film's score, made it his goal to create a "cohesive musical journey." And he did a BEAUTIFUL job of this. My personal Favorit numbers are "Summit Siege" and "Treason." As for the songs, they are GREAT, but not Disney's best. Bobby and Kristen Anderson-Lopez's lyrics are interesting...sometimes they are very deep and sophisticated (Let it Go) oder very juvenile and crude (Fixer Upper). I felt uncomfortable that they injected some childish lyrics into some of the songs, ESPECIALLY Fixer Upper. (Don't get me wrong, the song is really catchy). Liebe is an Open Door is probably one of my Favorit songs, and not only because I Liebe Santino Fontana's voice (they did a great job casting him). The lyrics for that song are pure genius, because EVERYTHING has a double meaning. It talks about the use of doors as a metaphor in the film, such as the door between Anna and Elsa, oder Anna being the DOOR to Hans' evil plans coming true. After Hans' big reveal during the film's climax, I realized how TWISTED the song really was. And in a good way! So many double meanings....I Liebe it! I wish, wish, wish with all my herz that the Frozen DVD includes a dark reprise of Liebe is an Open Door...although it probably won't. All right....as for the other songs...I loved Frozen Heart. A lot of foreshadowing there, mainly regarding Elsa's powers and Hans' "frozen heart." It reminded me, and a lot of people, of "Fathoms Below" from the Little Mermaid. And those burly ice harvesters? YUM! Do Du Want to Build a Snowman was adorable...I almost cried when I first heard it. Beautiful song. I'm still a little iffy regarding For the First Time in Forever (the first one...the reprise was epic). It just didn't hook me like most other "I Want" songs have. I don't know, I think it was sort of a weak song...at least until the end of it (when Elsa and Anna are Singen together). I was waiting for the song to pick up and sort of hit a stride, but it never did. So over all, I was just "meh" about that one. Let it Go is a great song, but when I listened to it, I found myself missing Alan Menken's music. His melodies are just so ear-wormy and sugar sweet, and I Liebe them! Let it Go didn't really have that...but, like For the First Time in Forever, the ending is very epic and triumphant (my Favorit part). In Summer is a funny song, but also sort of weak. I wish they made it a little Mehr catchy, something like When We're Human, oder I've Got a Dream. I thought the Musik was just a little too soft in this song, and that the melody just didn't "hook" me. (I don't know what it is with me and hooks). Reindeers are Better than People was a sweet song...but again, kind of weak. I think the film makers just wanted to have Johnathan Groff sing. But in their defense, it wasn't meant to be a major song. It was meant to be a little ditty, like In Summer. However, they could have done Mehr with both of those songs. For the First Time in Forever (reprise) is POWERFUL. I literally got CHILLS everywhere when I first heard it. I have no idea why Let it Go got all the praise...this song is A MASTERPIECE. Just the way Anna and Elsa's voices bounce off each other is exhilarating! Anna's voice is soft and sweet, which contrasts with Elsa's belting, "diva" vocals. Their voices just work together to create a beautiful song. And the visuals during this scene were also great, with the snowflakes whirling around Elsa...and such. GOOSEBUMPS!!!! Now, I already gave my opinion about Fixer Upper. Very, very catchy...not crazy about the lyrics. Still not sure how I feel about the trolls. I almost think I have to watch the movie again. I did like the meaning behind Fixer Upper...that EVERYONE has flaws, but family and Friends are there to accepts those flaws. It did seem a little lazy though, to sum everything up as "LOVE FIXES EVERYTHING." But hey, it IS a Disney film after all :)

Wow! My analysis of the Musik was so long, I think I'll have to teilt, split my review into parts! But overall, I think my opinion actually shifted as I was Schreiben this analysis. Frozen's Musik was really NOT the best. I personally think Frozen's creators could have stuck with Alan Menken. Sure, he sort of hit a low point with Tangled, but apparently the creators specially wanted a "pop" sound. But still, that man is a GENIUS. He's whipped up some of Disney's best songs. However, Christophe Beck's score definitely rivals Menken's. I thought he was a GREAT choice. So yeah...the Musik is OK. I would place it higher on my Liste than Tangled, but lower than, say, Princess and the Frog. It's about on par with Hunchback of Notre Dame for me. (This is MUSICALLY speaking....I haven't even begun to discuss the other parts of the film). So yeah, sorry this is so long! But this movie has seriously touched my herz in so many ways. Please leave your thoughts in the Kommentare section!! :)
