Well, what were our Merida - Legende der Highlands heroines and Heroes without their friends? They would be forced to provide the comic relief themselves. Not that some of them wouldn’t be able to step up to the challenge (*cough* Flynn* cough*), but as a general rule, it’s the sidekicks who provide the laughter.
Pocahontas is not listed in this category. I considered adding “Percy’s bath”, but since the score is very short, it wouldn’t have been fair.

9. Princess and the Frog: I have my problems with most of the songs of this movie, but “Gonna take Du there” might be the worst of all of them. There is nothing I like about this one. Not the text, not the tune. I think that’s the only song in all the Filme of which I really dislike every Minute of. Normally I’m Mehr “good, but not as good as…” oder “it could have been good if…” but this is Mehr along the “I don’t want to hear it again” line.

Fanpop says: The voting for this category was very even, save for the best and the worst song. And yes, I’m in the trend here, this was the looser Von scoring nearly half of the votes. Didn’t get a best-vote either. “Just a Meh-Song”(ellie53)

8. Aladdin: “Friend like me” is a fun song, it’s a good song – but really, it adds Weiter to nothing to the movie. All the explanations about the rules of Genie’s magic are done before oder after the song. The only thing it does is giving the animators the opportunity to play around. And for a song which is sung “just for fun”, it’s a little bit too long.

Fanpop says: Nobody considered it as the worst of the bunch, and it got some best votes, so I suspect, it would be higher on most of the other lists.

7. Cinderella: I like “The Work Song”, maybe because the mice are a little bit less squeaky in the German version of it, maybe because of nostalgia. But I have to admit that the text isn’t really creative – it’s mostly about the mice Singen what they are doing the very moment. But at least, it’s short and to the point. And it adds to the plot, since it's basically about the mice realizing the plan of Lady Tremaine and their decision to help Cinderella.

Fanpop says: Milky-way was very emphatic about this one: “I. HATE. THIS. SONG. AND. THEIR. ANNOYING. SQUEAKY. LITTLE. VOICES.” But overall, it was mostly in the middle, like all the other songs.

6. Beauty and the Beast: There has been some talk recently about the Frage if “Be our Guest” is overrated oder not. So it might be better to put up a disclaimer here: I adore the scene in which the song is played, and if I should decide to watch “Beauty and the Beast” in 3D, than it would be because I want to see it on the big screen again. Not the ballroom scene, not the transformation, just the dancing tableware. I think it’s a great tune, but I think that of nearly all Disney songs, especially those in Disney movies. In the end, the decision is down to the content of the song. And while there are a lot of hints about the suffering of the serving staff during the years under the curse, it’s mostly about eating and serving, and it has Weiter to no bearing to the plot of the movie.

Fanpop says: This was the runner-up for the best, but as I mentioned before, the voting for the middle was very close together. I suspect it would be higher on most lists, but nobody really Kommentiert on it.

5. Tangled: I had a really hard time to judge the “Thugs Song”, and not just because it’s Mehr a “side character” than a “side-kick” song, considering that Pascal is the true sidekick in this movie. The thing is: The whole scene in the “Ugly Duckling” is one of the funniest I have ever seen. It’s so unexpected that a group of thugs would suddenly start Singen about their dreams (especially if sagte dreams involve being a florist oder an interior designer). But what throws this scene really out of the ballpark are Flynn’s and Pascal’s “Are Du serious?” expressions. Normally everyone is Singen and dancing enthusiastically in a Disney movie, but if this happened to me in real life, I think I would look exactly like Flynn (and then I would Mitmachen in). Considering how much I Liebe this sequence, I had a really hard time to look at the song itself without having the whole situation in mind. But I think the content hold up slightly better than the one of “Be our Guest” (keep in mind that I Liebe the tableware dance just as much). It’s about not judging people based on the way they look, that there might be hidden talents were nobody expects them. It also ties in nicely with the “second chances” theme which is going on in this movie. And it adds to the plot, since the thugs are needed later on to free Flynn.

Fanpop says: That on the other hand was the runner-up for the worst, so I suspect, most people would disagree with me for placing it over “Be our Guest”. But again, nobody really Kommentiert on it.

4. Sleeping Beauty: Technically there isn’t a sidekick song in “Sleeping Beauty”. But there is a theme that gets played every time the Elfen turn up (though, calling the Elfen sidekicks is misleading, the are sidecharacters at the worst, the protagonists at the best]. It’s most prominent in “Magical House Cleaning/Blue oder Pink”, the sequence during the scene in which the Elfen are preparing Briar Rose birthday party, the scene which results in Aurora getting discovered. It’s a very memorable tune, I just have to hear a few notes of it and I automatically think about the Elfen – something no other song on this Liste accomplishes.

Fanpop says: Nothing, since I didn’t put the score up to vote. I didn’t think that it would be very productive, considering that people tend to remember songs Mehr than scores, or, Mehr precisely, they tend to remember the Titel of songs Mehr than the Titel of score pieces. Some of my later picks, in which I did mix songs and scores, showed that I was right about that.

3. Snow White: “Heigh-Ho” was originally Mehr towards the bottom of this list. Then I reconsidered it a couple of times, and it slowly etched its way to the top, until it ended up here. Yes, I know, this isn’t one of those songs most people would sing just for fun. But it’s very, very well done. How the sound of the digging starts the dwarves Singen about their work, introducing themselves short and to the point (although the fact that they don’t even know why they are digging is a little bit odd), and the way they do the transition to the “Heigh-Ho” part. The Sekunde part of the song isn’t very exciting, considering the lack of actual text, but it builds up the anticipation about the home-coming of the dwarves very well.

Fanpop says: Yeah, I repeat myself here, but again, another one of those middle songs nobody had to say anything about. It looks like most of those songs are Mehr oder less on the same level. “Every single one is amazing. Under the Sea, Be Our Guest, Friend Like Me, The Work Song, & Heigh-Ho are my other oben, nach oben ones...very difficult...”(fishypup)

2. Mulan: Adding “A girl worth fighting for” on this Liste is a little bit of a stretch, since Mulan’s official sidekicks are Mushu and Cri-Kee, but “Mulan” is somewhat a special case since the songs in this movie are a little bit unusual, and I really don’t want to judge all of them in the same category, so bär with me. Ever noticed that every single song in this movie is about gender roles? This is the “what want the male side-characters from a woman”-song (it’s somewhat interesting that Shang is the only one who doesn’t voice his preference). But the main reason it’s so high on the Liste is the placing in the movie. The way is suddenly breaks up and the mood goes from a cheerful atmosphere to the destroyed village, really drives across the tragic of what happened to the people living there. Although the audience already knew about Shan Yu plans, this comes so unexpected, that it has a much bigger impact than it would have if they just had discovered the village in a normal way. Another plus for the song is the fact that it doesn’t slow down the movie at all, quite the opposite. It works very well to cover the passage of time from the training camp to the actual battlefield.

Fanpop says: Judging Von the voting, this one had a tendency to the Mehr beloved ones. “yet the only girl that Liebe him is his mother xp haha hillarious.really Liebe it!”(PociandSmith)

1. The Little Mermaid: I think “Under the Sea” is the only song in any DP movie which Fragen the actions of the heroine, providing another perspective (save for "Dig a little Deeper", but that's Mehr a "you shouldn't forget to do this too" than a "what Du do might be the wrong decision" song). For this fact alone it deserves a high placing. But it’s also one of those songs which made me want to dance immediately. The text is full of creative lines like “under the sea we’re off the hook”, it’s just a joy to hear those wordplays.

Fanpop says: The clear winner, and it got a lot of declarations of love. “This song never fails to put me in a good mood :)” (milky-way)
