Defense of original Book Bamon Fans who also ship Zeigen Bamon
Kay, so I wrote this out of extreme annoyance at a certain fanbase who claims that some of us only ship Zeigen Bamon because of the dynamic of Bamon in the Bücher (which is completely not true).
Since I am a Fan who loved Book Bamon before the Zeigen even aired, I thought I could give my take on it.
So, three years Vor when, when I was twelve, I read the VD book series. I was just getting over a “Twilight” phase (now before Du roll your eyes, I am not obsessed with it anymore. I still like it, but I know there are many other vampire fandoms that are better like VD, Anne Rice, Underworld, and ect.)
Anyway, I bought the Bücher and began to read.
I was a Stelena Fan in the Bücher from the start (meaning I NEVER shipped Delena), but Damon’s character still interested me. I just hadn’t been sure who I wanted him with.
That was, until I read Dark Reunion. After that, Bamm! It was instant love, and Bamon became my OPT.
I wanted them together SO bad, and my Liebe only grew for them Mehr when I read Nightfall (which I believe, was the last book to come out before the Zeigen aired).
Two years later, when I heard there was going to be a Fernsehen show, I quickly became excited. I couldn’t wait to see one of my Favorit book series become a Zeigen that I could watch on every Thursday.
So on the night the pilot episode was to air; I sat down and watched it with my mom and sister.
And….I was disappointed, a little angry even. At the time, I had been expecting and hoping for it to be like the book series, so I could see the characters come to life.
VD was the first CW Zeigen I watched, so I wasn’t aware of how much they change things when they adapt Bücher into shows (from what I heard, “Gossip Girl” was originally a book series, and they changed that greatly too).
So to put it short, I didn’t like the Zeigen at first, AT ALL.
The only thing that kept me watching was my sister, who hadn’t read the Bücher and was intrigued Von the idea of the Zeigen its self.
I cooled down a bit, and decided to give the Zeigen a chance, completely erasing the hope of it similar to the Bücher from my mind.
And I began to Liebe the Zeigen as a whole, book series aside. But like book Damon, I wasn’t sure who I wanted Zeigen Damon with, since I figured Bonnie and Damon were NOTHING like the ones from the book series.
So yes, even though I was still completely in Liebe with book Bamon, I didn’t ship Zeigen Bamon at all at first.
That was, until I saw the episode “History Repeating”. After that, the idea of Bamon in the Zeigen intrigued me, as did Kat and Ian’s chemistry.
So I got on trusty Fanfiction.net, and read some amazing Zeigen Bamon fanfiction and bam! Just like I had with book Bamon, I instantly fell in Liebe with the idea of Zeigen Bamon.
The point I’m trying to make is, though I loved book Bamon long before I even knew there was going to be a show, I do Liebe Zeigen Bamon for totally different reasons (even though I do sometimes find similarities between the two).
I ship Zeigen Bamon FOR what they are, Zeigen Bamon, NOT because I read the Bücher and already loved book Bamon. I know they are entirely two different things.
And I’m sure many others feel the same way I do…
