Dearheart God gave us brains. Wouldn't He want us to use them? What's the point of believing in something if you don't know how to back it up? I personally think it's great to "write essays" and debate about this stuff. You might not change the other person's mind right away, but at the very least, you can get them [i]thinking[/i]. Then you sit back and let God do the rest. ;-)

X-Squirt-X God gave us nothing. Our own parents did :/ Sorry but my whole family don't believe in god, which brings me up not to. Although I grew up with my school saying 'god is everything' there is my dad saying 'god is a lie' and with me being smart 8-B I chose my dad’s side. Science has proven god doesn't exist. I also got told that churches or such other get offended by the word 'dinosaur'. You probably think I'm being pathetic by saying dinosaur. But science has found that dinosaurs were here before god was :/ How did the dinosaurs survive, like floating around in space? Also we were not created by god, we started off as planktons or something and evolved into different species which then we were humans. My whole school knows we were apes before humans. How could Adam and Eve be humans straight away? Even our primary school teacher (who is getting forced to believe in god) told us secretly that earth was created by gravity, not some powerful man. I would also like to say that the sun was around before earth, so god could not create the sun whilst he was ON the earth. And don't say I have no experience in believing in this religion, for I have. Since year 1 to year 3 I had belief in God and Jesus. Our assembly in our primary school told us about him, and for us being so young, we believed. But that's when I got a bit older and watched documentaries and heard of my dad. I put 1+1 together. The Sun, Dinosaurs, Evolution, Gravity. At first I was afraid of leaving my beliefs, but since then, I carried on my life and forgot about then. I mean look at me, I'm educated good, I'm healthy ^^. And if people say 'If you believe in the Lord, he will help you.' Or some crap like that, how comes I know a girl who goes to church every Sunday, who believes in the 'Lord', yet she lives in a dirty home with no money and diseases in every corner. You can shout at me as much as you want, send me comments, but that man is never going back in my head. I had bad days then :| I am 13 in case you might be wondering, so don't use them super long words, I may get confused. :3 Longest post I have ever wrote in my life, quite proud really ^^; P.S - I decided to write this after what Andolion wrote. prettystar I don't want to argue too. But,I really believe in god. But for me you can't really connect science and the spiritual beliefs, X-Squirt-X. They both have different stories and conclusion. So, you can't just rely on one thing. Because, they're completely different. Just like in science, they said that dinosaur exist first... And,the bible said that Adan & Eve is the first human beings who existed. See the difference? How can you connect a person from an animal? Even if you keep on finding evidence that Science proves it all,you can't because as I said before you can't connect bible from Science.And how come you know that we came from a one cell or whatever if you're not even alive or your still not existing that time. For me, no one can really say where we really came from or what is our roots/beginning.And about the girl you're saying, All of us are not really that rich when we are born. Some of us like you said are living in small homes. And it's not God's fault. We must learn how to be stronger because this is just a test for us. God never wanted us to be like that. And look, some of the people who came from poor families are the one who's the famous and wealthy person in this generation. So, please don't just judge right away because I believe that no matter how you pray to God but you're not helping yourself you can't really succeed in life. And maybe the parents of that girl are really trying there best to have a more peaceful & more beautiful life by working harder. And that kind of people are the people who are being blessed. It may help some people in the world, but it's saying it will help EVERYONE? For a 12 year old, that was a very good post ^^. jblaine I know this forum discussion is sort of dead but for anyone else who finds it late, I want to add my two cents. Ratdog asked, "Where's your proof that Jesus did really rise from the dead? Not just what the Bible says, by the way." I just wanted to point out that if you don't take what the Bible says to be true, then you can't take any historical fact to be true. The Bible is a historical document like any other and we all take those historical documents and base true history off of them. It is just that Christians take the Bible as being inspired from God so it means more to us than mere historical fact. And to the person who said that they see Jesus as a good man and that's it, you are ignoring parts of what he said. When Mother Teresa was alive, if she would have claimed to be God (obviously she didn't), would we still see her as a good lady to follow her example or would we see her as a crazy lady. I think most of us would feel sorry for her and she would loose most of her credibility because of that statement. The same way with Jesus. Because he claimed to be the Son of God, he is either a crazy man or actually telling the truth. Forum debates aren't very good for actually making people change their minds. If you don't believe that Jesus is the Messiah, and you really want to understand what Christians believe, don't try to listen to an average Christian living in the US. Just because 80% or more of Americans claim to be Christian, doesn't mean half of us even know what that means. If you really want to know, read Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. Being a Christian means that Christ opened us up to becoming new beings. Through baptism we actually let God come into our souls and reside there. We are no longer made in the image of God, we are now sons and daughters of God, because we have the Son of God in us. It is all about God living inside of us, working through us, being one with us. If Christians would realize this, then we would be living in a much different world right now.

I lived a good life that I can be proud of. 2. I f reancarnation was true then apparently I get to live again yay! 3. And since God is true that means I have eternal life in heaven with God in happiness. Even better! What I'm trying to say is that we Christians have nothing to loose by living this way! If we're wrong what's the worse that could happen? Sure I die but so what? But if you Athiests are wrong then may God have mercy on your soul :)

IntrepidKeris Good article, fly. And X-Squirt-X, this is about your friend. I know from here that she is living in poor conditions. Is it bothering her at all? If it doesn't bother her much, then she is taking her life she's living as a good thing. She probably prays for a better life later on, but she's taking every moment as something special. If it does bother her, ask her what she would rate her life on a scale of 1-5.

X-Squirt-X IntrepidKeris, No, I remember standing beside her at the park. She sat on the bench and started crying. I asked what was up and started to comfort her. She said, "I hate my life, I wish I was never born me. Sometimes I wish I was you." It sorta hurt that she was judging me, but I didn't say anything. She hates herself, she used to tell me that she does pray but nothing ever happened. She's changed now, though. I think she's.. gave up since my last comment. I remember she would draw pictures that said "Jesus is king" But I don't see them anymore. She's never busy on weekends, which was her church days.

He works in our lives every day. & to those who say God doesnt exist: The evolution THEORY, the Big Bang THEORY, etc. All of these r labeled as theories, which r NOT fact, but opinions & speculation. Never have I seen concrete evidence to disprove anything in the Bible. All I hear about r theories, *maybe this is what happened* or *that happened*, etc. Science does NOT show that God didnt create the Earth & all things. Its ur own opinion/speculation, while the Bible has been historically held onto throughout the ages. Everyone has their own opinion, but to come onto this spot in particular & say that science factually proves that God didnt create the Earth is bull. Just stating my thoughts.

Phoenix_Stone I believe that God sent Jesus to us, but I don't believe that Jesus is the son of God. When Jesus said, "My Father.", "Your Father.", "Our Father in Heaven." He meant God as a fatherly figure. He did not literally mean that he was the son of God. If this was the case, then we would all be the children of God, biologically. We know that's not correct though. God is our Creator. He does not beget, nor was he begotten. Surely, if Jesus was God, he wouldn't have died? I refuse to believe in the Trinity. But, of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Jesus did raise the dead and cure the blind and lepers, but with "..the will of his Father." So, he did not do it by himself. He only did it by the permission of God. He had no power, except when God granted it to him. Jesus was a great human being. We know that the Bible was written after him, and that it has been changed drastically. Jesus is even called "the son of Man," various times. He never claimed to be God, nor did he ask us to worship him. His birth was miraculous. He had no Father, just like Adam. There is only one God. The Holy Spirit is also not God. It was just another name for the Archangel Gabriel. This is all, of course, my personal opinion. I am not forcing this on anyone. I just thought I should express my views. Thank you, if you were patient enough to read my views.

Just because we don't understand God and why He does certain things doesn't mean He is not real. Isaiah 55:8,9 - "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." If you truely want to understand the Bible pray Psalms 25:4 which says "Shew (show) my thy ways, O Lord, teach me thy paths." You might not see anything right away but keep reading and praying and He will open your eyes to the truth. Jesus did claim to be the son of God and God (the great I am). He and his Father are one, along with the Holy Spirit. He did have power on the cross but chose not to use it in order to defeat death (no one takes my life except that I lay it down). For those who have a scientific point of view.... which of our scientist has created a man from dust that he created? God is the greatest scientist ever. God even created a special atmosphere for dinosaurs. So what I want to ask is where will you spend eternity? Maybe you think it will be under a mount of dirt...but God says you can choose heaven. Read 1 John 5:11, John 5:24 & Colossians 3:3,4. God warns us that there are only 2 choices in eternity. I, personally, knew I was guilty of breaking His commandments and didn't want to be in hell so I accepted His offer and He changed me. Through Him, I changed my destination. So can you.
