I was shocked when Hook became the first one to tell his secret. He had nothing to gain Von telling his secret at all, let alone going first. But he knew that in order for Emma to get to Neal - to the man Hook thinks is her happiness - he had to prove that this was how the cave worked, so he did the honorable thing - and he did it for her happiness.
