She stepped off the couch and quietly walked toward her front door. She stood, listening to the other side of the door, hoping he might actually be there, but also wishing it was just a hallucination.
"Bones?" he sagte again, this time a little louder.
She threw open the door, scared that if she took her time, he'd be gone.
But there he was. Looking almost as scared as she felt. She couldn't believe this. He had been gone. Forever. She shuddered at the thought, but regained herself.
She reached out to him. If she could touch him, prove that he really was there, then everything in the world would be right again. But if he disappeared, like in all her other hallucinations and dreams, then she may never heal.
He reached out, too, and in the middle there hands met. He intertwined his with hers and smiled. His boss would kill him for this, but nothing mattered anymore. Her face showed color the Minute they touched, so coming here was the right thing to do.
"Hey Bones. Miss me?"
She knew he didn't mean to hurt her Von saying it, but she couldn't help it. She let the tears fall. The ones she'd held in all week. The ones she held in as she made him hold on to life. The ones she held in after her parents left. The ones she had held in when she had to work with Sully instead of Booth. And she smiled too, while all those tears fell. She smiled because he truly was there. And she smiled because he had held onto life. And she smiled because she had stayed with Booth instead of Sully. And she smiled because she wasn't alone. Because the one person that she had trusted Mehr than even herself was back. And at this moment she didn't care for how long, just that he was here now, that he hadn't just left at the moment she'd needed him most.
Booth couldn't understand what was going on. Here he was at Temperance Brennan's house when he was supposedly dead, and she stood in front of him crying tears that obviously hadn't fell in years. And while these tears fell, she grinned. The beautiful smile he had missed so much, and hadn't been allowed to see. And he knew, that it was his fault for this hysteric breakdown in front of him. And it was his fault he had to leave her. And his fault his herz was aching at seeing her like this. And it was his fault she had been awake at this time.
And now, he realized, he could fix all that. She just had to let him fix it.
