Despite American plant closures, slaughter continues across the border

Since all three U.S. horse slaughter operations were ordered closed last year, the number of Pferde exported to Mexico for slaughter has exploded. As of Dec. 20, 2007, 44,475 Pferde had been shipped to Mexico for processing for human consumption compared with 10,783 shipped at the same time in 2006—a 312 percent increase.

Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is an amazing thing. When a horse doesnt get sold they go to the slaughter house! This organization writes a Liste of the Pferde who dont get sold, gather as much information about them as they can, and give them a Sekunde chance of being sold. Every Wednesday they do this. The Pferde are also very good tempered and dont have any majar issues at all! For the best of it they put these Pferde under $1000! It is literally a small price to pay to give these Pferde a better life.
