In the episode 9 promo, it\'s revealed that Ryan might have been a follower of Joe\'s all along. Is the shocking moment just a dream sequence? This discovery is augmented by great hacking skills from Theo and the return of Mark and Daisy. "The Following" season 3 episode 9 airs April 20 on Fox.

"The Following" season 3 heating up, and the episode 9 Fox promo gives fans some advance SPOILERS to ogle at. The short clip teases Ryan\'s past relationship with Joe, the return of Mark and more hacking from Theo.

The news comes to Design & Trend via "The Following" episode 9 promo from the Television Promos YouTube Channel. Plot synopses from Spoiler TV further augment the new information revealed in the clip.

First and foremost is the shocking revelation that Ryan may, or may not, have been a follower of Joe Carroll in a past life. Starting at the end of the promo, Ryan asks Joe "so how do we do this." Joe responds by handing the FBI agent a knife and saying that "he has so much to teach him." The scene looks authentic, and Ryan appears to be happy receiving advice from his supposed arch nemesis.

That being said, there\'s plenty of reason to take the tense moment with a grain of salt. "The Following" season 3 has toyed heavily with the concept of dream sequences, and it\'s likely that this strange aberration is just another one of those. Future spoilers also tell us that Ryan never detracts from his investigation to engage in something like this. If the scene does happen at all, it would have to take place long before Joe was jailed and the current threats existed.

Another exciting revelation from the promo is that Mark and Daisy will return in episode 9 after a multi-episode hiatus. It\'s not yet known if the duo is linked in their mission or how they figure into the upcoming plot. Probably the most scandalous spoiler of all is that "Mark makes a shocking decision" of some kind. Will he turn himself in to help the FBI? Will he kill someone close to him? In the universe of "The Following," both of these scenarios seem possible.

These tiny teasers are filled in by Ryan\'s new game of cat-and-mouse with Theo Noble. The killer\'s hacking skills manage to fudge Hardy\'s personal info while also causing the FBI agent to get stuck in a car wreck. Tech knowledge is something that Joe Carroll never had, but, in "The Following" season 3, Theo uses it to great effect.

"The Following" season 3 episode 9, titled "Kill The Messenger," airs April 20 on Fox.
