Paul Bettany says Vision could be good or evil in Captain America: Civil War
was the birth of Vision, which saw Paul Bettany take to the screen after years of voicing Tony Stark\'s electronic butler Javis. The arrival of the new superhero seems to have given the Avengers a new lease of life thanks to his impressive array of powers. However, according to Bettany, whether those powers will be used for good or evil remains to be seen.
"I was given comics," said Bettany, when asked about his preparation for the role at the AsiaPOP Comic Con in Manila. "I also was looking to think about what could be edifying for me to learn. I took the opportunity - you see my character get born… something unlikely to ever happen to me again. He must be both omnipotent and yet totally naive at the same time, and experiencing the world in real time and his place in it."
"Is he going to be a force of good or a force of evil? It was really interesting and fun to play with, because he’s dangerous. You don’t know if he’s going to go one way or another. I’m continuing that theme in
." Could the new-look Avengers be pulled apart before they’ve even got going? Time will tell…
What does seem clear is that Bettany will be in the MCU for some time to come, with the actor revealing, "it’s the first time in my life that I’ve had the security of knowing that I’ve got a couple of movies to make." Naturally, he wouldn’t reveal exactly how many are left on his contract, but it sounds as though Vision is here to stay.
