We hear a lot about sexism against females, and some people think this extends to books, which it probably does. A lot of Bücher have no females in them, oder only have weak female characters, like damsels in distress which are just there to be saved Von males. But recently, there has been a lot of strong, resourceful new female book characters. Here are my favourite strong heroines- and two of them are from Bücher written Von male authors, so well done men for realising that females can be string too.

1) Kestrel Hath, from The Wind on feuer series Von William Nicholson.
Most of Du probably haven't read this series, but Du should. Not only is it an incredible story, but it has this incredible character who for me has to be the number 1 heroine. She has everything Du could ask for: strong, brave, relateable and loving (although she doesn't realise it). She also is admirably stubborn, strong willed, impulsive, has a fiery temper and a strong sense of what's right. She feels a relateable anger at being oppressed Von society and is Merida - Legende der Highlands enough to rebel against it.

Red with blood.
Hi guys, I managed to finish Lesen this spooky novel because Halloween is coming. So, here is my review on Bram Stoker's horror classic.

The Story

The format is like a journal, chronicling the events of the story and the history of Count Dracula, whom he claimed to be a descendant of Attila the Hun. It was a bloodthirsty and chilling novel that I could not go to sleep in the end!
I also feel sorry for Lucy Westenra, having to die so young and to become a vampire all thanks to Count Dracula. Prompting Jonathan Hawker, Dr. transporter, van Helsing and Mina to retaliate Von killing the Count.

The Characters

The Titel character is really fascinating, because he was based on a Romanian Prince name Vlad III of Wallachia (famously known as Vlad the Impaler). He gained reputation Von impaling his victims and dining with them, it was such a gruesome site!
Lucy was seen as a sympathetic character because she was turn into a vampire and died later on in the story, I always feel bad that my herz cries for her when Lesen the story.

The Cover of the book!
Hi guys, this is my 3rd novel that I had read from Cecilia Ahern, and here are my thoughts on the novel. Are Du ready?

The Story

I feel that the story is very sad, because it's about Sabrina who wants to know about her father's past. It was very similar to Nicholas Sparks' "The Notebook" because it was like the past about her father's childhood to adulthood and that he is suffering from either Dementia oder Alzheimer's disease, most likely the former!

The Characters

Sabrina is a determine young girl, who tries to help with her father and to get to know him better. She uses his marbles to help her along the way to know Mehr about his past, I really like her a lot because she is a very likable character to start of with. As a matter of fact, she slightly reminds of myself because I have photographic memory when it comes to certain things!
Her dad on the other hand, has a troubled childhood because he was raised in a religious school and it was a strict upbringing. At one point, he was beaten Von Father Murphy for not understanding his Irish accent properly. I kind of feel bad for him at this point.

The Book Cover.
Hi guys, I had read the book a few months Vor and I was not at all impress about it for a number of reasons. So, here are my thoughts and review about it.

The Chapters

This was the number 1 reason why I was not very fond of, because the chapters were so confusing that I could not keep up with the story itself. It was like the Autor was jumbling with the chapters, especially the story-line itself.

The Story-Line

Speaking of the story, it was very slow pace that I could not keep up with it! It also has to much repetition in it, could not the Autor just get to the point of who is the killer? That I have to stop Lesen it halfway!

The Characters

I felt that the characters are very dry and unlikable, especially Rachel to whom I came not to like her at all, mainly because she is Mehr introverted and I also find her very neurotic at times.
Whereas the other characters are totally out of place. It was like one chapter they have different personality than the Zurück chapters.

The Wonderful Book Cover.
Hi everyone, this is my third book review and only this time, it is Charles Dicken's novel Great Expectations.

The Story

I was fascinated about Pip and his life, his relationship with his family and especially Estella. The Liebe of his life, I always feel sad for both Pip and Estella after the latter married Pip's rival, Bentley Drummle. An abrasive and unintelligent young aristocratic.
The story is also about forgiveness, especially the ending when Estella redeems herself and reunites with Pip.

The Characters

My favourite characters are Pip, the lawyer Mr Jaggers, Estella and Abel Magwitch, the latter was actually Pip's benefactor contrary to the latter's belief as he initially thought that it was Miss Havisham. Speaking of her, I initially found her cold and aloof. But as the story progresses, I also feel sorry for her and begs Pip to forgive Estella.
Finally, Bentley Drummle is a character that we all Liebe to hate! He is sagte to be abusive towards Estella, prompting her to leave him and sadly he was killed from

Lovely rose!
Hi guys, earlier on I gepostet about my review about Gaston Leroux's horror classic. So are my personal opinions about the book in general, I will also be including bits of the musical on which it's base on.

The Story

I was very familiar with the story, especially since I had heard many of the familiar songs from the musical itself. When I read the book for the first time, I was really amazed on how the story is partially different from the musical itself.
Surely, it was a very intriguing story that every night I would listen to the audio-book and I would cry at the end, because the Phantom is a very sympathetic character and has no Liebe from neither his parents nor anyone. Prompting him to go mad!
But there is one thing that I did not quite understand, it was that when Raoul and the Persian were nearly drown at the bottom of the opera house when they are going to rescue Christine from the titular character. Then, in the Weiter chapter when Erik (the phantom) told his side of the story and about the young couple's whereabouts to the Persian. Both the latter and Raoul are safe, sicher & sound, to me it seems very abrupt!

Team Harry Potter?
Hi everyone, I had read both Bücher and I would like to give my opinions on both of them. However, for those who haven't read it, go ahead and read it. Du don't know what you're missing.

Harry Potter

The series was extraordinary amazing, because it's not predictable and J.K. Rowling invented whimsical words to make the story interesting and flow with the magical universe.
I am very happy that all of the 6 Bücher were made into Filme that I could watch it again and again! I hope to read the 7 book when it comes to Malaysia.

The Chronicles of Narnia

When I first watch the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, my first impressions on both the movie and the book series was that out of this planet! It was like taking us to a different universe, I also read that it has some connections with Christianity.
But on the other hand, I hope to read them again because I'm so addicted to the story for peculiar reasons!

We all have our fandoms.
We all have those certain Bücher we can’t stop talking about, those Filme and TV shows we can’t stop re-watching, those video games we can’t stop re-playing, and those Musicals that whenever the tour comes to town, we watch them again and again. ROMEO AND JULIET
Romeo and Juliet (1595?) is justly famous for its poetic treatment of the ecstasy of youthful love. The play dramatizes the fate of two Liebhaber victimized Von the feuds and misunderstandings of their elders and Von their own hasty temperaments. Shakespeare borrowed the tragic story of the two young Italian Liebhaber from a long narrative poem, The Tragicall Historye of Romeus and Juliet (1562) Von English writer Arthur Brooke. Shakespeare, however, added the character of Mercutio, increased the roles of the friar and the nurse, and reduced the moralizing of Brooke’s work. The play made an instant hit; four editions of the play were published before the 1623 Folio, demonstrating its popularity. The play continues to be widely read and performed today, and its story of innocent Liebe destroyed Von inherited hatred has seen numerous reworkings, as, for example, in the musical West Side Story (1957) Von American composer Leonard Bernstein.
HAMLET
Hamlet, written about 1601 and first printed in 1603, is perhaps Shakespeare’s most famous play. It exceeds Von far most other tragedies of revenge in the power of its ethical and psychological imagining. The play...

Hi there everyone!

I'm a writer and I'd Liebe some international support for my story that I already gave to my Favorit actor Colin morgan personally as a gift. He inspired me for a certain character and it was gegeben Mehr as a sign of gratitude for the inspiration rather than for him to read it. No idea if he ever would, but I just hope the effort I put into translating it just for him made him happy that day. What a brilliant actor ^^ Anyways - I've created a club and this account itself for communicating with future readers. I don't want to bother anyone with it, but how else could Du let people know your story even exists before it's published?

I promise I have put a lot of effort into it! It took me three years to create this world and the characters. Maybe you'll fall in Liebe with "The Golden Heart". I'm striving for an international release of the book and what I need for that is support, support, support and lots of love!

I Liebe everyone who tries to do the smallest thing to help!

My first language isn't English so please excuse my mistakes.^^
As a Emma Watson Fan I saw the trailer of the movie "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" and immediately fell in Liebe with the story so I decided to buy the book.
After two days Lesen I finished the book yesterday. (the book is not that big, so I probably would have finished it in one Tag if I had Mehr time^^) At first, it took me a while to find my way into the story and to understand Charlie (the main character). That was mostly because I wasn't used to the kind of structure the book had. It contains the letters Charlie writes to someone that we don't know. He writes about his life as a freshman and his friends.
He is very emotional and crys alot (especially in the beginnung) what made it for me even harder to "feel him" (I don't know how to express this feeling I get when I'm really in the story and I "live" the book). It was hard for me at this point because I tend to suppress my feelings and I don't cry alot (at least not in public). But at part 2 (the book is subdivided into 4 parts) I really began to understand him and I realised that I did Mehr than understand him, I did find myself in him....

I have started a new club that deals with horror and bizarro fiction. Bizarro deals with the weird and extreme side of horror. Usually it's described as the literary equivalent to the cult section of the video store. There are many authors who deal with the Bizarro and for the most part they go unrecognized Von the mainstream media and that is why I have started this club. The Bücher and topics I hope the club will include will deal with the Mehr darker, nastier horror fiction, a place for adults who like to be challenged Von their Lesen material and hope that this new club HORROR AND BIZARRO LITERATURE will do this. Alan Weisman
2007-2008
St. Martin’s Press

– A fascinating eco-thriller … Gripping

The simple but irresistible premise of Alan Weisman's The World Without Us - what would happen to the planet if human beings simply disappeared - lit up imaginations even as it ignited controversy around the world.

Weisman's "thought experiment" examines what would happen in both the immediate and distant future to the land, the animals, the oceans, our cities, our art, and all manner of things we take for granted if we were no longer here. Would the seas again teem with fish? Would our concrete jungles crumble to make way for natural ones? How long, if ever, would it take for our collective footprint to fade away?

A MUST READ

The small Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan takes seriously their country’s “gross national happiness,” which they deem as important as the gross domestic product, a standard economic indicator. Public policy, the king declared, should be linked to people’s sense of well-being, not just to economics. To be sure, the pillars of national happiness in Bhutan include financial self-reliance, a pristine environment, health care, education preserving local culture, and democracy. But economic growth in itself is just part of the equation.

The gross national happiness is not just for Bhutan: the notion of placing as much oder Mehr value on people’s happiness and life satisfaction as on economic growth per se has been embraced Von a small, but growing, international group of economists. They see as misguided the universal assumption in policy circles worldwide that the consumption of Mehr goods means people feel better off. They are developing new ways to measure well-being in terms not just of income and employment but also of satisfaction with personal relationships and a sense of purpose in life.

Daniel Goleman, 2006, 334 pages

Goleman in his groundbreaking book reveals that neural linkages between humans influence the brain and the body. These invisible bridges give us the ability to change people's moods, emotions, and health - as these people can do to us. Relationships not only shape emotional states and general psychological experience, but also the very physiological matter that makes our body. Our interactions with people influences our immune system, circulation, hormones, and breathing for example.

Social Intelligence expands from the one-person psychology within an individual to a two-person psychology that looks at the connection shared between individuals. Mehr specifically, Goleman defines social intelligence as:

1)    Social awareness, which comprises of primal empathy, attunement, empathic accuracy, and social cognition, and

2)    Social facility, which includes synchrony, self-presentation, influence, and concern.
