Wasn't Voltron it's own series in like the 80's? I was planning on watching that.

Actually the original"Voltron: Defender of the Universe"was basically a translated and heavily censored and edited version of the"Beast King Golion"anime.
Knowing you,I think that you would prefer watching the original"Beast King Golion" over"Voltron: Defender of the Universe"because it was much more darker and mature(it showed the Earth getting destroyed in a nuclear war, scenes of slaves getting tortured and killed,a lot of characters deaths including a main character,genocide,cannibalism,suicide and even implied rape).

That's hilarious. I should just watch an episode of both or something like that.
