"Torian, please snap out of it!" Jessica pleaded for the third time, hoping maybe this time the boy might respond. After getting Charmander and Rattata to to the Pokemon center, he had went into this state of being empty. It wasn't perfectly accurate, but it fit well enough. He wouldn't smile, he wouldn't cry. He wouldn't even blink. He just sat there staring out of the window, as if he had locked himself away from the world somehow. It was worrying,as even though she hadn't known him long, she knew him long enough to know he didn't act like this.
Just as she was about to try again, Nurse Joy called her. "Excuse me, Jessica? Torian? Your pokemon are ready." She announced cheerfully, and Jessica headed over, retrieving the two pokeballs. "Thank you, nurse." She tsaid politely, casting a worried glance to Torian. This did not go unnoticed Von Nurse Joy, who also noticed how the boy was just staring emptily out of the window. "You know...your boyfriend looks a bit down...Is he alright?"
Jessica felt her cheeks burn at the Nurse's mistake, and in a nervous voice, attempted to correct her. "Um, h-he's not my..." Joy laughed at her reaction. "I know. I was just joking!" She assured, calming the younger girl. "However, I was serious when I sagte he looked a bit down. Is he alright?" Her blush having faded, she shook her head. "He was beaten in a battle...really badly..." Nurse Joy nodded, Wird angezeigt she understood. "I see..." She trailed off, before turning from Torian to her.
"Well, I think if that's the case, then he needs Du right now, Mehr than anything." Jessica's eyes widened in alarm at the statement. "Huh?" Nurse Joy continued when Jessica showed no signs of understanding. "Right now, he has probably Lost all faith in himself...whatever was keeping him going has been crushed, and now he has nothing left..." Jessica looked to Torian now, feeling Mehr and Mehr pity with every word. Was that really how he was feeling?
"So he needs someone else to believe in him, someone else to lift him back up from the ground and place his faith back into his heart." Jessica tightened her hands into fists. "Thank you, Nurse Joy. I know what to do now."And with those words, Jessica began walking towards Torian, her expression now full of determination as she now had a mission to fulfill. As she did, Nurse Joy stared at her with a warm smile. "That girl...I know she can help him...those two make a good team."

"Alright, Torian. I know Du can hear me. Enough of this. I know Du can hear me." No answer. He just continued to stare at the window. Having expected this, Jessica walked around him so that she was nownfacihg him, blocking his view of the window. "Fine! Then I challenge Du to a pokemon battle!" He remained silent. "If Du don't accept this challenge, i'll never travel with Du again!" He rose to his feet with that statement, still not talking, expression remaining unchanged.
Jessica smirked. I knew a challenge to a battle would get him to respond! Now I just have to win!

The two trainers stood in a clearing that was behind the pokemon center. Jessica looked to Torian with her unwavering determination, which Torian responded to with his still empty expression. "We're gonna do this one on one! And I'll be using..." She unclipped a pokeball from her waist. "Nidorina!" she tossed out the device, and soon a Nidorina flashed into existence. Torian wordlessly also unclipped a pokeball and tossed it out, revealing his Rattata.
"Okay! Sandshrew, start off with sand attack!" She said, and Sandshrew began to hurl the dust from the ground at the purple maus relentlessly, forcing Rattata to evade the attacks oder be blinded Von sand. "Rattata, use quick attack." Torian stated dully, and Rattata's form blurred out of existence, only to small into Sandshrew with a powerful headbutt. Sandshrew was sent flying back, and Jessica was eerily reminded of Torian's battle with Christian. Putting it off a a coincidence, and focused her mind back onto the battle.
"Okay then! Use dig!" Sandshrew's claws began to glow as it slashed at the ground at a super human rate, eventually going deep into the ground. Torian didn't appear to be fazed at all Von this. "Continuously use agility." Rattata began darting all over, It's figure becoming harder and harder to see with every movement, until it was only a purple blur darting around the field. Jessica scowled, not expecting him to be this good in his current state.
"Come out and use tackle!" Sandshrew emerged from the hole suddenly, before running towards Rattata, moving too quickly for Rattata to respond. It then proceeded to ram into the rodent's chest shoulder first, sending it back few feet. "Rattata, use Hyper Beam." A sphere of energy began to form in the rodent's mouth, particles of energy flowing and gathering inside of it, eventually forming a ball of raw energy. Then with a cry, Rattata fired the attack, the sphere transforming into a beam that tore the ground beneath it as it shot towards Sandshrew.
"Go back underground! Quickly!" Sandshrew jumped back into it's hole just as the beam reached it, and the attack harmlessly dissipitated as she called out her Weiter attack. "Use headutt!" The ground beneath Rattata suddenly cracked and broke as Sandshrew emerged, it's head colliding hard with Rattata's stomach. The purple maus was now down and out, indicated Von the swirls in it's eyes as it landed on the ground with a thud.
"I win! " She cheered, fist pumping the air as Torian wordlessly returned his Pokemon to it's pokeball. Jessica walked up to him, her expression once Mehr serious. "Torian...do Du get why we had that battle?" She asked, and Torian didn't answer. "I once heard that Trainers can understand each other's thoughts and feelings through battle...so, did Du feel them?" His fists slightly tightened as he finally decided to talk. "Why..." He trailed off quietly.
"Because your my friend." She answered, and his eyes widened slightly. "I may not have known Du for a very long time, but I do know that Du aren't the kind of person to give up." He just stared at her, tears welling up in his eyes. "So I helped Du out...that's what Friends are for, right?" He nodded, a small smile on his face. "Your a really good friend, y'know?" He began wiping his eyes with his arm. "Tha-Wait, are Du crying?" She questioned incredulously.
"Me? Cry? No way! I was just dust in my eyes!" She crossed her arms at him as he lied, a sly smirk on her face. "You were crying, weren't you?" He shook his head profusely, putting his hands in the air. "No! I just had some dust in my eyes, I mean it!" She shook her head dissaprovingly. "You were crying."
