Parents hunting Princess Elsa doll Christmas presents Frozen out

Parents desperate to get their hands on the latest must-have Christmas toys faced disappointment today.

High street stores and websites said dolls, toys and costumes inspired by the Disney hit movie Frozen, were selling out almost as soon as they got new supplies.

Two of the figures - Disney’s Snow Glow Elsa and Frozen Sparkle Doll - are among a top 12 list of toys predicted to become this year’s Christmas top sellers by industry experts.

Some websites had “sorry, out of stock” messages alongside pictures of the Snow Glow Elsa and Sparkle dolls.

Industry experts said sales had reached an all-time high, prompting fears stocks could sell out ahead of the Christmas rush.

Disney Store customers are limited to buying two items per person on the most popular toys while ToysRUs has imposed similar restrictions on internet orders.

Disney Stores said: “The popularity of Frozen has been phenomenal.

"To be fair to the large number of fans interested in these products, there is a limit of two per customer on a few of the very popular lines like the dolls and costumes.”

Smyths Toys said it was not restricting sales to customers although some stores had run out of the Snow Glow Elsa range.

A spokesman said: “We’ll have Snow Glow Elsa back in stock on November 21.

"Stocks of everything are, of course, limited so we always encourage parents to buy early to avoid any disappointment.”

ToyRUs said: “There is a constant flow of stock going through the stores. Demand is at an all time high at the moment but we can get stock from other countries if necessary.”
