Before anyone says it. I know Odette isn't a Disney Princess.

This was tough...I love both films, but I probably enjoyed this one more. And btw, Odette isn't a Disney Princess :) sorry, I couldn't resist!

Meh...both aren't the greatest films, but Pocahontas is a lot more memorable.

I'm finding it hard to decide. I've literally just finished watching The Swan Princess and it is an ok film with a lot going. Pocahontas is generally considered to be the least active of the princess films, however I do think I enjoy the film slightly more than the former. The animation is on its side as well.

I'm so on the fence about this...I'm not a HUGE fan of either but I'm finding them hard to compare.

I haven't seen The Swan Princess since I was 4. I literally remember nothing except for one scene where she's a swan. So I'm gonna pick Pocahontas for the hell of it because I love the film anyway. I'm watching The Swan Princess this week (it's on my list of things to watch - today is Sinbad) so my vote may change.

Oh, I quite like the Sinbad film. Is that the dreamworks one? I've only seen it once but I really enjoyed it.

^ I'm waiting for the blasted thing to download. And yeah, the Dreamworks one. I have 2 live action Sinbads on video that I adore, so if this is better than them then I'm happy. But it's a Dreamworks film, so I'm expecting it be a great story with great emotion and hilarious jokes.

i really don't know, i just picked this because i don't like Pocahontas very much. i haven't even seen The Swan Princess.

I freaking hate The Swan Princess. The only thing good is the music and harmonies to the songs. The lyrics are ok, but not the best. That's all this film has going for it IMO. It's just horrible.

On the other hand, I LOVE Pocahontas. But hell, I love almost all Disney movies.

I watched Sinbad on youtube in good quality a while ago because I couldn't find a DVD copy but I just check and now its been removed.

I like it much better plus The Swan Princess was made by a former disney director

I was surprised to see that The Swan Princess has sequels. I haven't seen them and I probably won't ever bother.

I can't believe it has sequels either. :S I never really liked the Swan Princess too much. It is lacking emotion much more so than Pocahontas.

I liked The Swan Princess. I used to watch the first movie over and over, especially when Odette and Derek are kids and they sing their song while growing up. And I liked watching Derek were playing that shooting game with the servants dressed up as animals.

I don't know which one I enjoyed the most. I think I'm gonna be a traitor and pick The Swan Princess.

I just watched The Swan Princess and I really loved it. But I still love Pocahontas more.
Some of the songs in The Swan Princess... Ok, ALL the songs were just awful. But apart from that, it was good. Even though Odette and Derek have the most nonsensical relationship ever. It's all

Then skip a bit, and they're in love again. WITHOUT EXPLANATION. I'm sorry, but what the fuck?

I really do like both, but I prefer Pocahontas by quite a lot. I watched it tons of times as a kid, and would only see TSP an occasional few times.
I think it has better animation, music, and a generally more interesting and attention-sustaining storyline, especially on repeated viewings. But don't get me wrong; I still love Swan Princess & its characters. :3 Even the sequels were entertaining, despite their badness. XD

And LOL at Straggy's summary of Derek/Odette--that actually IS pretty much it right there...

What does Pocahontas have to do with Swan Princess? Like, I don't really understand why that'd be on the cover. Seems like a cheap attempt at grating Disney.

They where released in the same year and obviously are aimed at a similar target audience, therefor they are comparing themself to their most siginificant competitor.

So it makes quite a lot of sense Mongoose.

I really do like the Swan Princess, but SERIOUSLY DO NOT watch the sequels!!! They're awful.
I like the songs, but not as much as the songs in Pocahontas (<3 Alan Menken fan forever <3) and the animation is better in Pocahontas, I like Poca more than Odette, but I like Derek more than John Smith...

I don't like either one of them...

They are both far from perfect...the difference is, when I watch Pocahontas I feel disappointed because I know Disney can do much better. When I see Swan Princess, I'm impressed, because the movie is suprisingly good for something not made by the big studios.
