It was just an ordinary Tag when I logged onto Fanpop to see what was going on. When I looked at people's posts on the wall, I was shocked. What had happened? Had World War III broken out overnight? Was I on the Bamon spot? This is what I saw: disgruntled, depressed Kommentare from DE Fans claiming that they were going to 'stop watching the Zeigen for a while'. OK, I knew that 3x12 wasn't that great, but I didn't think it was as bad as that. It wasn't as if Elena had run back into Stefan's arms, oder that they were going to get married. Then I found out the cause for their black mood: Kevin Williamson's new interview. link
There was a link to it on the homepage, so I read it. For the most part, I didn't think it was so dreadful. I mean, none of the things he sagte about Elena's feelings oder DE struck me as particularly astute, and it certainly bothered me that he felt Stefan was Mehr tragic than Damon, but I couldn't see why any of the things he sagte would make a DE Fan want to quit the Zeigen for an indefinite period of time. Especially in the middle of Season 3. If we were talking about one Jahr ago, then I could totally see why they would feel that way, but after Stelena have broken up, and DE have shared a mutual kiss, it honestly disturbed me that all it took was one interview for some Fans to lose hope in their ship.
There's something DE Fans have got to understand. We should NEVER EVER be taken in Von anything any of the producers say about DE oder the triangle. Any time we read an interview with them we should be very discerning and cautious because it's likely that they're trying to deflect from what is really going to happen.
So; don't be dismayed when Julie oder Kevin do their utmost to paint Damon as 'the obstacle' oder 'temptation' to Elena and Stefan's 'epic Liebe story'. Don't feel like smacking your head against the Wand when they endorse Stefan as 'the hero' of the story over Damon. Don't fret because it's all bluff.

I feel that much of the time, the producers unknowingly contradict themselves. Take the latest interview with Kevin for example. Apparently, some Fans were upset Von his insinuation that Damon is just a 'temptation' for Elena. I believe that SE Fans took it as their cue to be reassured that nothing would ever usurp their ship. But look again. In the Weiter part of the interview, Kevin says:

'You have to earn it, and the character has to do it. It took us this long to earn it. From the Sekunde episode of this show, when she walked into the Salvatore mansion and she met Damon for the first time and he kissed her hand, that’s when it began. It just took us two and a half years to say, “I think they can kiss. We’ve earned it.”'

Here's my question: if Stelena truly are the show's 'love story', then why take so long to script a mutual KISS between Delena? Why not just throw them together the Minute Stefan was out of town? I believe Kevin when he says that it was because he didn't want the Fans to hate Elena, but there will always be Fans who are going to hate her no matter what she does. It wouldn't have mattered if the KISS had happened in 1x22, 3x10, oder 5x10, SE Fans would have hated her for Küssen Damon anyway. Why did the writers feel that they had to take Mehr than 2 years to work up to that moment, and why did they feel that DE had 'earned it' when none of the other couples had to?? Look at Forwood, Beremy, Stelena. Most of them got together in a matter of episodes, and they never had to do a blessed thing to 'earn' anything romantic. In fact, most couples barely even interacted much before they became a couple, and there was little in the way of build-up before they kissed. Stelena kissed in the Sekunde episode! And had sex in the tenth!!! SE Fans herald their ship as Mehr deserving of endgame because it was 'true Liebe from the beginning', but what's so epic about a couple who fall into bett when they hardly even know each other? How can we be sure it was 'true love' when it happened so fast? I find it odd that Stelena Fans base their arguments for an SE endgame on the fact that Stefan was first, and don't say anything about the relationship.
But if we're taking Julie and Kevin seriously - and according to them, SE ARE the show's true Liebe story right now - then it doesn't make sense for them to invest all that time and emotion into Delena, if Delena are just going to be an 'obstacle' to test SE's love; especially when they never poured half of that time and energy into developing Stelena. Why bother investing so much time and care into Schreiben DE's relationship, if Stelena are the true Liebe story of TVD all along? Why bother taking two and a half years to work up to a mutual KISS between DE, if the writers always knew the Zeigen would end with Stelena? There is NO POINT!!!! It makes zero sense for the writers to spend Mehr time on DE, and letting the audience Liebe and obsess over them, while knocking SE together in 10-11 episodes flat and declaring: 'That's your epic couple folks.' How can the audience be expected to Liebe Stelena if they don't care two hoots for them? Think about Giselle in the movie 'Enchanted'. The story starts with her meeting Edward, but concentrates on her relationship with Robert, who is her true love. In the 'Hunger Games' trilogy, the Autor focuses on Katniss' relationship with Peeta, not Gale. That should tell Du something.

It's for that very reason, why I am never convinced Von anything Kevin and Julie say in interviews. They're saying one thing, but the Zeigen is telling us something else. The two don't match up. If their words aren't an accurate oder honest reflection of what I see on the show, then why should I believe anything they say?
Fans constantly speculate that the producers don't have genuine intentions for DE, and are merely going to string Delena along for the ride, but it would be extremely crass of Kevin and Julie if they were to do this. They have a job because of the fans. The Fans help to pay their bills, and enable Kevin to work on Mehr TV scripts. If people stopped watching, and the Zeigen crashed, Kevin and Julie would be out of work. They probably know that the Mehr people want DE to be together, and the longer they have to wait, the Mehr rewarding it will be when they finally get what they want. Putting DE shippers through all kinds of angst for 6 years, only to crush them Von making SE run away together at the end would be the worst thing they could do. I don't see how any DE shipper could forgive them after that. I know I couldn't.

I feel that the producers play games with the Fans all the time, and DE Fans in particular. There could be any number of reasons why they're so intent on promoting SE as the 'epic love' of the show; maybe they want us to think DE won't happen so we'll be Mehr surprised when they do, but whenever they speak of SE using the words 'true', 'epic' and 'love', then they're basically perpetuating the myth of Stelena. If Stelena realy were those things, then their fanbase numbers would rival DE's. They would win polls, they would be bloggers and recappers favourite couple, they would get all the memorable scenes that people talked about for days after, and the producers would receive death threats Von opposing shippers after they kissed for the first time. But they don't. Because they're not epic, and people see that. Their 'epicness' is a myth. Even a favourite quote gepostet on SE Fans tumblrs is a fake. (FYI: Kevin never sagte SE were Mehr than soulmates). It doesn't matter what the producers tell us; at the end of the day, the majority of viewers aren't watching the Zeigen for SE. The '99Poll' that is currently going on is evidence of this. Participants are asked to vote for who Elena should be with, and are only allowed to vote once, so unlike the Portrait one, it's a fair poll. There's no cheating at all. Damon has received 1,221 Stimmen (84 percent) to Stefan's 240 (16 percent). At the end of the day, Du really can't, and shouldn't look to the producers to validate who Du ship, especially when Du ship Delena. The only person's opinion that truly counts is yours. But it's also worth remembering that actions speak louder than words. It's not what they SAY about Delena/Stelena; it's what they choose to DO with them that will always matter the most.

Nutika Thanks for dediction :D I love your articles. You know I've always thought that they were saying that SE is epic and couple of the show to give us more emotions. If they say that there will always be Delena we probably wouldn't be so happy everytime we se the chance and we would be like 'yeah it's amazing but we knew that they will heve amazing scenes' Now we are more amazed our ship is stronger becouse of all the bridges we had to cross :D I'm fatalist so sometimes when i hear something bad i just beliee in it and your article gave me back hope! RoseJackDawson I wasn't upset about the last episode. SE fans think that Stefan is back (even if he's not) and now Elena will run to him and pretend like nothing happend? Even if writers end with Stelena,even if Elena never admits her feelings or Damon and Elena never kiss again,they're epic,they've been that since the beggining and it will always be like that. Just remember all epic couples. Do any of them jumped into relationship just like that? I mean Elena knew Stefan's name when they kissed in 2nd episode and in 4th or 5th (i don't know) she knew he has a brother Damon and ex girlfriend Katherine,AND THAT'S ALL SHE REALLY KNEW ABOUT HIM,but she was dreaming about them making babies? They're unreal,they're too...i don't know...they're nothing.It's like: 'Hey world :) We're together since the beggining and we're telling each other that we love each other so we're epic?' They will never be remembered as DE is,TVD will always be remembered with DE.It's like that and will always be.

shine0n The writers and producers should be more careful with their slippery comments and careless statments when it comes to TVD fandom, whether they are half-hearted towards SE or DE fans. So, who are they gonna kill this time? In this case it's wiping out Delena fans with the single shot from the executive producer and one-sided remark of his that the TVD world revolves around "heroic" Stefan and his "epic" love with Elena. I find it more than just a little unfair to tell the fans of this pairing that Delena will always be second best to Stelena. It's shame. Damon and Elena had the biggest build up of any romance I've ever seen. The writers shouldn't treat them as just a temporary bump in the road for Stelena, not if this show is really supposed to be about an actual love triangle. It's disturbing if you consider how much expectations, effort and hopes Delena fans put into their own epic couple. The way this careless shot can easily wound and damage those hopes and expectations, it's understandable that fandom is upset and disappointed in the show, the writers and producers - giving up on it's own faith in the ship that "hold no further hope in the future." But IT DOES! It SURELY does. Who can tell you that better than delenasalvatore in this truly great article:) It's never about all they say, think or believe. It's about hold on tight to your beliefs and have a hope. I put my heart and soul in this ship. And at the end of the day, Delena is already one soul winner and one epic love within my heart. So if KW and JPs want to "rock and shock" by playing games and killing a mass-fan audience -fine, but shooting at Damon out of every respect, like he's one worthless SOB who can hardly earn and deserve even small kiss - now, that hurt! TheWuzzy :D Thanks for the dedication :D yet again this is brilliant! You nailex the "epic love" arguement prefectly; that's the main reason I've never liked Stelena (apart from their zero chemistry) the fact that after knowing eachtother for what, two weeks, Elena was like "I can't change the way I feel about you Stefan!" At this point I was like, er, what? You've only spoken to him about five times you weirdo! It was so unrealistic I was genuinly confused for a while. ;P Epic love, yeah right. Not to mention Stefan's obsession before he'd ever spoken to her and his broody little "I know the risks. But I have to KNOW her." Bless him he's such a stalker, Edward Cullen would be proud. You are 100% right, DE have the build up because they're the most realistic (well...ya know what I mean xD ) emotional and interesting couple on the show, so when they do finally happen, THEY will be epic, not SE! Personally, I think they're seriously epic now and they aren't even a proper couple yet. I mean, my 13 year old brother thinks they're cool and SE's rubbish for heaven's sake. And he's barely even gone through puberty yet ;D You're also right in that we can never let what the producers say put us off! Of course they can't sit there and say "Oh SE suck" because it's their job to appear to be as unbiased as possible, they have to write the thing and keep the audience guessing! I didn't see why this article was depressing to be honest because whenever anyone mentions the words "Stefan" "Hero" "Stelena" and "Epic" in the same sentence I know they're talking rubbish. ;D There are plenty of other interviews where they appear to be shipping DE aswell; the truth is whatever they may secretly think in their hearts as professionals they can never, ever ship one couple more than the other for the sake of the show, until it begins to draw to a close and they have to decide on endgame. At that point they will go with what feels right, and let's face it, picking SE would be the most ridiculously inanely blatantly wrong thing to happen since the EU banned curved bananas. :)

bratski2192 Absolutely brilliant & spectacular article! IA with all that u said. I'm tired of all the iffiness of Delena's buildup supposedly being for nothing. What I hear from some SEers about SE getting together in the first 10 episodes is that it wasn't fast, since their timeline in TVD world is slower than on the show. O well. Delena endgame. =D

NateHeartSerena I 100% agree with this. "Actions speak louder than words"- To me its not what they say but its what they show. And what TVD shows me is that Delena have the most intense, amazing and jaw dropping scenes. Nuff said. It is no coincidence that both season finales ended with EPIC DE moments (even if one was Katherine, Damon and the audience thought it was Elena). We get all the beautiful ending scenes and even if the scene is small- its always significant. So I agree completely. The writers are pouring so much time, effort and care into Delena there is no way we can be counted out. Delena = endgame <3

delenasalvatore Wow. What a response! Thank you everyone! I absolutely love reading your comments. Reading negative posts on the wall kind of upsets me. I suppose every spot contains some negativity but sometimes it feels as if our fans are too affected by what the producers say, and just because the producers put DE in a small box, they then take that as the absolute be all and end all. @shineOn, I wonder if the producers want us to sympathise with Stefan too much, and try to protect him too much. After all, they've never let him hit rock bottom the way Damon has. In many ways, Stefan has existed as an extension of Elena, and as a result, people don't respond to him the way that they do to Damon, because it's difficult to empathise with someone who is ultimately so 'noble' and 'heroic' even when they're being tragic. I can't help wondering if Kevin is annoyed that people love Damon more than Stefan, when they've made Damon do things purely so that we would hate him; while Stefan is so good, and people still love Damon more than him. Maybe that's why Kevin takes Stefan's side so much?? @RoseJackDawson, it would be so tacky and unrealistic for Elena to forgive Stefan and go back to him immediately, especially when it took her the better part of S2 to forgive Damon for what he'd done to Jeremy. Elena has more self-respect than to go back to someone who treated her like crap. @bratski2192, I've never heard people say that. Were they trying to be ironic? If anything, the TVD world moves FASTER, not slower! One last thing: I hate reading stuff that is depressing. One thing I've noticed on other spots - (one spot in particular), is that misery loves company. All it takes is one person to rant against something else, and it spreads like wildfire across the fandom, and it makes everyone else who reads it feel angry/depressed/bitter too. Things are going well for us. We don't need to be depressed, or think DE are going nowhere, because they are. If this article dispelled any gloom that was hanging around, then I'm glad.

Manonx I don't usually read those interviews with Julie or Kevin, but now I've read the one you posted in your article. I can see why DE got 'depressed' after reading this, and I'm not going to say that I was really happy during reading that interview, but as you said - in your awesome, true article btw - we shouldn't listen to what the writers say. It's so true that the writers say something, but do otherwise. And after 2x12, I can't believe any fans being upset about it. Stefan and Elena needed to have that conversation, otherwise, Elena wouldn't be Elena anymore. She's honest like that. If she didn't tell Stefan herself about the kiss, I'd hugely [is that even a word?] dislike her for that. And you are right about the fact that Stelena's 'epic' *cough cough* love didn't receive the buildup we - DE fans - get. Why call a couple 'epic' when they had sex in the tenth episode? You are so right. Laynaa Just found some time off work to finally start to read all you're lovely articles. I decided to star with this one and let me say, Excellent!!! I couldn't agree with you more. I also felt upset at how quickly some DE fans were giving up over a producers comment. Julie & Kevin have always put SE in the limelight while they neglected DE, so why give up now? My brother is a writer and he knows a couple of producers, and guess what he told me, the reason the producers aren't talking much about DE is because they want us to be surprised. It doesn't make sense, but than when I watch other shows they do the same thing. They want the viewer to expect. They talk about SE so much because let's be honest, we don't get surprised over them. I agree with everything that you have pointed out. I wasn't ever worried about leaving Delena alone and jumping ship, even after reading KW's interview... it was a little laughable to read the line that said SE is Epic Love... but you managed to explain everything properly and in a true sense of what Elena's rel'ship with Damon and Stefan really is... the buildup between Delena can't just be for the writers to take it to its peak and then crash it like a house of cards, that would be ridiculous!!! Anyway, just wanted to say that this is a fantastic article once again, loved it alot!!! ^___^

kristanna_vl Well, everything you said is true, and i agree with most parts. But i must also admit that i`m a little bit exhausted after two and a half season of wanting and hoping them together, and than in the last episode, well we all know what i mean. I`m so over the producer playing with our hopes and dreams just to keep the audience on fire. Maybe it`s right that the journey is important, but i think at this point Damon totally earned more respect from the writers, and the characters they`d created. I swear, i would do it better than Julie. So let`s hope for the rest of season 3, even that the picture of episode 03*14 shows us otherwise. For me it seems like Stefan and Elena gettin back together. Also you can read on CW that this evening will be for Damon full of dashed hopes. So what else should it mean? I think he will try to kill his pain about Stelena in having sex maybe with Katherine. Because i don`t know any other hot vampir which is familiar as they write about on CW.

wichitofan i agree 100% with this article really because us as the DELENA fandom have to make an example and try to be positive because we knew from the beginning that the damon and elena journey was going to be long and not everything was going to be flowers and roses. i just really dont like people that are saying that they're going to stop watching the show for me that is sad because that means that you yourself dont believe enough in DELENA we shoud all just calm down an enjoy the amazing show and the amazing people that damon and elena are and their amazing journey that hasnt ended yet but only just begun

delenasalvatore @Laynaa, I'm sure your brother is right. If Kev and Jules blabbed about DE they would give the game away. It would be nice if they said something positive, and occasionally, they do, but not often. They usually talk about DE in very vague terms, and leave it open to interpretation as to what will happen. It makes sense for them to spend most of the time talking about SE and their 'true love', because what is there to say? We already know about it. DE is the biggest, most anticipated ship of the show, so why not keep everyone in the dark about them? If they can keep the suspense up for as long as possible, it works better for the show. @kristanna_vi, I think 3x14 is too soon for SE to get back together. I know the synopsis sounds ominous, (although I can't wait to see it), but it might not be what it sounds like. Even if something bad happens, and Damon does sleep with Katherine or Rebecca,or whoever, then it will be good for the fandom because Elena will be jealous, and she'll realise she can't be with Stefan if she loves Damon. Basically, even if the writers put Damon through the ringer, then it will only make the fans want DE to be together even more, and they'll disagree with Elena choosing Stefan. Hey, SE have been apart since the beginning of the show more or less, and we haven't seen Stefan try to kill his pain like that. Now which brother needs/loves Elena more? @wichitofan, it bothers me too. We've been through much worse than one lousy interview. Like, half of S2 was a test of endurance and faith in itself. Why give up now? It's only beginning to get real! Elena's changed since Stefan walked away from her. She's stronger, she doesn't need him the way she used to. And her relationship/bond with Damon is so much stronger and more intense now. She can trust him, they can lean on each other for support in bad times...it really doesn't make sense to me that DE fans feel like giving up at this point in the show when there's so much more to come.

JerseyGirlBritt I don't know how many times I've said this but I'll say it again: great article and the points you made were spot on. I've been learning not to listen to Kevin and Julie's interviews because, like you said, what they talk about and what we see on the show are usually very different things. The only part of Kevin's interview that bugged me was when he said Stefan was more of a tragic hero than Damon, which I very much disagree with. Regardless, I'll move on. About Stelena: a couple that kisses in the second episode and sleeps together in the tenth isn't very epic to me. Elena fell in love with a guy she hardly knew and forgives him for things way too soon. With Damon, she has always known who he is and what he is about. He and Elena dealt with how many issues together and even STILL have maintained their friendship, which is currently developing into something more. Delena is the only ship I've seen on the show so far that has been able to make up after something bad happens (even if it took awhile) and keep going with their lives being close. Probably my favorite part you brought up is when you said if Stelena were the true love story of this show, they wouldn't have bothered building up Delena in the careful way they have been doing. It just wouldn't make sense but instead would have been a huge waste if you ask me. All in all, I do agree that the writers seem inconsistent. I don't know if they're just changing their minds over time or if they're saying things to hide their real intentions (saying they love Stelena to surprise us as Delena continues to progress). Again, wonderful job. And thanks so much for the mention in the intro! I appreciate it. :)

BuffyAngel101 This was amazing! You are so right (you always are)! The mind games the producers play can be slightly disconcerting--but it wouldn't be a love triangle if it was completely obvious who would end up with whom. My stance on Damon and Elena was never really shaken by the interviews...I was slightly annoyed (like you) at the mention of Stefan being a more tragic character than Damon. I always love your articles. They're always so wonderful and encouraging! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you have such an incredible way with words! Thank you for mentioning me in the beginning of the article. I had no idea my encouragement and comments meant so much. I'm glad they do, though.
