Twilight annoys me to the max. I don't think it's copying BTVS, tho. Real vamps don't sparkle in the sun. And they don't always wear a human face. Do the vamps in Twilight even have a game face?

how is it the same?? buffy is about a vampire SLAYER among other things twilight is different

i do NOT like Twilight, the movie is literally them staring at each other. (no intended offense to people who like Twilight)

Twilight doesn't copy Buffy anymore than Buffy copies Anne Rice. They're just in the same vampire genre.

I thought Twilight copied off of Buffy cause there are a lot of similarities such as-

The Similarities between Buffy and Bella
1) Both Buffy and Bella have names that aren't exactly common.
2) Both Buffy and Bella move from a large town to a small town.
3) Both Buffy and Bella are in their mid-teens when they meet their soul mates.
4) Vampires continue to come after both Buffy and Bella time after time, including the most ancient of them. For Buffy, it's the Master, the First, etc. For Bella, it's the Volturi.
5) Both Buffy and Bella are friends with vampires, werewolves, humans, etc.
6) Both Buffy and Bella have parents that are divorced and the parent they live with is single while the other parent finds someone else.
7)Both Buffy and Bella move from the large town to the small town and the small town has A LOT of supernatural activity.
The Similarities between Edward and Angel
1) They are both vampires.
2) They are both vampires with something unique about them (Edward can read minds/hear thoughts and Angel has a soul)
3) They are both vampires that choose not to feed on humans if they could help it.
4) Both Angel and Edward watch over Buffy and Bella from a distance to protect them.
5) Both Angel and Edward have rivals for Buffy's and Bella's hearts (Spike and Jacob)

But Buffy is totally way better! and Twilight's vampires are like stupid vampires like they don't burn in the sun like what's that all about? and they don't turn to dust! and they can see their reflection and apparently a vampire can live without human blood when they don't have a soul like what's that about that is so lame and stupid I think Twilight's ok but a lot of it is mostly stupid!

I like Twilight, but the movies do the books no justice. The books are great but the poor acting and bad portrayal of the characters gives it a bad rep.

Yeah, Buffy and Twilight have A LOT of similarities as buffyl0v3r44 pointed out above me, but Joss and Stephenie Meyer made their creations their own despite this.

Buffy will always come first though. It is the original vampire "thing" to me! Nothing could compare to it.

None of the options really fit me (the no but a bigger Buffy fan is closest, but calling myself a 'bigger' buffy fan implies I like both, I dislike Twilight).
The examples you gave are things not exclusive to Buffy, most are quite common, especially in the young adult fantasy genre. Plus, it's easy to paint stories in the fantasy/YA genre as the same if you actively hunt for similarities. One example I always use is Buffy and Harry Potter. Similarities:

Main character's name is in the title. Main character is a sometimes reluctant hero, thrown into the role of 'chosen one' by fate/prophecy not choice. 7 seperate arcs (7 seasons, 7 books). Main characters are a trio of friends. They met through their school. One of the trio has red hair. One is known for her intellect. Best male friend is comic relief, who can sometimes be unreasonable/selfish but cares about his friends and always eventually comes through. Has a poorer family than the others who he's sometimes ashamed of. Main female friend's family is featured less than that of the other two. At some point in the story the sidekicks date. Mentored by an older man who works at the school, but not as a regular teacher. Those aren't even all the similarities, there are quite a few more.

HP and Buffy aren't copies, but they can be painted as very similar, same as Buffy and twilight. The basic facts of a story are not what make it unique, it's what a writer does with them, and I think it's safe to say Joss Whedon and Stephenie Meyer did very different things. Joss created a rich, dramatic and humorous story, with strong feminist tones, deep characters, solid action and present danger. Meyer, in my opinion, created pretty much the exact opposite. Even if you disagree of my assessment of Twilight (not favourable, but not intended to offend fans, just how I find it) I think many would agree the tone is very different, the characters have very different attitudes and the writing styles are very different. I may dislike Twilight, but that doesn't mean I'll hold Meyer to a different standard of originality than other writers.

In my opinion Twilight (The Book) is actually decent, and I think the media has destroyed Twilight. The movie is ripping off Twilight, and the whole Buffy Reboot is obviously because of the Twilight Craze, because it's the 'cool' thing.

I Don't like any of the options as you can tell when reading the books that Stephanie Meyer is a Buffy fan there are things in there that make you go BUFFY MOMENT!!! but it is not a copy.

I will also remind everyone that Twilight is written to be a ROMANCE novel with elements of fantasy where as Buffy is a FANTASY show with elements of romance, drama and comedy.

I do really like both but in my opinion Buffy is better.

Uhm..the first thing I said to my friend when she proposed Twilight to read: "Oh, yeah..a human falls in love with a vampire..it's like Buffy, I won't read it" and she says:"No, no, read it". Since I'm a huge reader and I'll read everything I gave in. It's not the same..of course there are similarities but it's about vampires..the mythology is kinda there.

I love Buffy WAY,WAY,WAY MORE because it has endless layers, it's deep and brilliant while Twilight is pleasurable but kinda meh.

I think Vampire Diaries ripped off Buffy more. Stefan and Damon are very similar to Angel and Spike. And Katherine has strong Darla and/or Drusilla vibes.

This question is almost hilarious. The similarities are either meaningless (e.g. both main characters having names starting with B which share the same meaning) or generic to romance/vampire/young adult fiction. There are far more differences between the stories than similarities.

I think there are far more differences than similarities. The similarities are pretty generic, e.g. both being stories aimed at young adults, both including vampires as the main supernatural element, both having a teenage female character who is at the centre of a love triangle. You need a lot more similarities to claim that it was copied.
