With Thanos having obliterated half of the universe\'s population – including a significant number of the Avengers – things are looking pretty bleak for many of the Marvel heroes.

But at least one of the characters could be getting a reprieve in the next

instalment – according to actor Sebastian Stan, anyway.

Stan, who plays Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes, discussed the fate of his character at Wizard World Philadelphia, saying that he found out his character would be one of the vanquished heroes when he spoke to his stuntman.

"I remember the day on set and James Young, who is one of my talented, glorious stuntmen ... on this film, came up to me and told me what was happening," he said, according to

Naturally, Stan went straight to co-director Anthony Russo to discuss his fate.

"I was like, \'Maybe this is it\'," he said. "And I remember Anthony was talking to everybody and I was like, \'Anthony, do – OK, I\'ll wait. Uh, do – am I – uh, is this it?\'

"And he was like, \'No, well, you know, maybe. But not really. Well, I don\'t know.\' So that\'s the way that day went."
