Humphrey and Kate got back to their höhle, den and imediately made for their bed. "Chris sagte it should fit both of us." Kate said. Humphrey got in beside her.
"Well, he was right."
Humphrey found a zip above Kate's head. "Hey, look. It zips up."
He pulled it down and he and Kate were cocooned together.
"I think I prefer this to sleeping on the floor." sagte Kate, wrapping herself around him. Humphrey snuggled up to her.
"Me too."

Slowly, Humphrey drifted off. As he slept, he drempt that he was in the höhle, den with Kate. He hugged Kate, but when he tried to let go, somthing was wrong. He couldn't. The dream Kate grinned at him, and suddenly, Humphrey was being absorbed into her, slowly melting into her body.

He woke up screaming.

"Humphrey? Humphrey! Shhhhh. Shhhhh." She hugged him tightly to try and calm him, but that just made him Mehr agitated. He undid the zip and jumped out of their hammock, hiding in the corner. "Humphrey." Kate said. "What's wrong?"
"I... I had a bad dream. It was about you."
She gave him a confused look.
"It doesn't matter." he sagte quickly.
"It does." She said, taking his paw. "You woke up screaming."
He told her.
"That doesn't make any sense." Kate said. "How did it feel?"
"Like being drunk." Humphrey responded.
"What's that like?"
"Ask a glass of water."
She hugged him again. He jumped, but didn't struggle. "It's over now." She said. "I won't absorb you." She laughed.
"Is it still night time?" Humphrey asked.
Kate checked. "No."
"Well." Humphrey said. "I'd better-"
Kate caught hold of his tail. "You're not going anywhere." She said. "Until you're clean. Come on."
"But Kate," sagte Humphrey, trying to get his tail away from her. "What about breakfast?"
"We're skipping it. It'll mean Mehr Essen for everyone else. Now come on." She took him down to the river.

Chris was up early as always. He'd decided to get up before his Friends today, silently sneaking away from the den. It was a wonderful morning, and he could feel a cool breeze. He lay on the edge of the ridge where their höhle, den was. He took out the photograph. Kenny stood there, Weiter to the wolf Chris. It was funny. None of his other Fotos had converted like this. And now they were gone. Watching over him. He looked up into the stars. They were somewhere up there. He sniffed and put the photograph back into his bag, making sure it wouldn't fall out. He'd actually been meaning to burn it, but he couldn't bring himself to do so. He remembered how Kenny had used to protect him from the bigger boys at school. School. It had seemed so horrible back then. Now he felt almost as if he'd like to go back. There had been a boy called Jerry. One day, Jerry had tried to take Chris's lunch money. He'd almost succeeded. He'd had his Friends hold chris while he beat him up and stahl, stola his wallet, but when he turned to go with his stupid friends, he walked right into Kenny. "Hello, Jerry. Would Du like to do this the easy way oder the hard way?"
Jerry had directed his Friends to hurt Kenny, but they just ended up lying on the floor, groaning in pain at Kenny's karate skills. It was funny, because Kenny had never trained, yet he was a blackbelt. He'd learned it all off the internet. "Hard way it is then, Jerry."
Kenny almost beat Jerry, but Jerry managed to hit him in the chest with a fist, and started towards him, a Essen technology messer in his hand. But Jerry had made a mistake. Jerry had left his chisel Weiter to me. I picked him up and bashed him over the head with it. He'd been in hospital for a week. The teachers learned what had happened. I and Kenny were suspended for two days, Jerry expelled after they heard our story. His Friends got a bit of a mouthfull from the them too. That had been 3 years ago. When Kenny was still alive. And what was interesting was that a wolf from this very park had killed him.
