 The Revenant
The Revenant
The Revenant, directed Von Alejandro G. Iñárritu has received 12 Oscar nominations this year, including one for the Best Picture. It has been partially adapted from the novel 'The Revenant' which in turn is based on the experiences of frontiersman Hugh Glass in the early 1800s.

Synopsis:
The Revenant is a story about the terrifying experiences of frontiersman Hugh Glass and his battle with the American wilderness. While on a dangerous expedition, Glass is mauled Von a wild bär and abandoned Von the members of his own hunting crew. Glass survives the attack and embarks on an immensely challenging journey back Home to his loved ones, in a quest for vengeance against the men who left him for dead.

Cast and Crew:
The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson among others. It has been co-written Von Mark L. Smith and Alejandro G. Iñárritu.

Production:
The production process pretty much started in 2001 when producer Akiva Goldsman bought the rights to the book Von Michael Punke which still hadn't been published at that time. After that it was only in 2011, when Iñárritu took over the direction.
The filming began in 2014. The most unusual thing is that the director refused to work with a green screen. The entire crew had to travel to remote locations and film only in natural light which made it an incredibly tough challenge for everyone on the team. Many of the crew members were fired oder quit due to extreme hardships which included sleeping in animal carcasses. The film was shot in Canada, United States and Argentina.

Rating:
This film has been rated R.

Reception:
The film has grossed over 361.2 million USD worldwide. It has received largely positive reviews along with 3 Golden Globe awards and 5 BAFTA awards.
It was praised for the extreme dedication and commitment of the actors. Some have called it an amazing experience to watch the chilling story while few others found it to be predictable and full of historical inaccuracies.
