An electric guitar? I'd start with a standard Gibson Stratocaster. That's the one I started out with. I now have a Soulbinder, but a Stratocaster is a good gitarre to start with.

If Du want an acoustic guitar, I started with a steel-string Western guitar. Steel strings are easier to play, since nylon strings tend to 'move down' with your pick more. That can be a bit annoying. I'd start with a steel-string gitarre if I were you.

When Du get your first guitar, always go for something that is cheap and not exactly precision, maybe even a used one. Why? Because Du might loose interest very quickly, oder Du might decide that it isn't for you, so really, get anything. If Du have been playing for at least 2 years and Du are really enjoying it, and practacing well, then Du are ready to kick it up a notch, and if Du haven't found out enough about guitars Von then to decide, then something is wrong, but if Du don't know, then anything Von Gibson is usually good and Fenders are good, but I have heard they are over priced.
