Positive thinking is frankly, what makes people keep living. Positive thinking is a reinforcment in which people can use to try to think about what good things are in their life, and how they can make things even better for themselves. Negative thinking, is what causes depression, suicide, and just sadness. Both of these mind sets are contagious, but Du can choose for yourself which one you'll catch. I know people in wheelchairs that have Mehr happiness then superstars because they think of what they DO have, not what they don't. Keep thinking positive, and help the world keep spinning.
Anyway. "Positive thinking" might encompass a lot of ways we have of trying to look on the bright side. Kürzlich studies indicate that affirmations and trying to force yourself to think positive can have the opposite effect, but I think those studies fail to account for a Mehr gentle approach.
To me, it's not about being afraid of the negative. We all experience choppy waters in life. We have to accept that. And it's not about kidding ourselves that we can succeed just because we think happy thoughts. It takes hard work and study to get to where we're going as well.
But if we can just loosen the reins a little and gently try to see the possibilities...that's the kind of positive thinking that I think people really benefit from.
