To my knowledge, there is no official legal name gegeben to Megamind, however, during the jail break scene of the movie, as thew warden, who appears to be Megamind, walks by, another inmate is heard to shout: "Hey! Lee!" This raises the Frage of whether Lee is part of Megamind's assigned legal name, perhaps a surname. The answer is unclear. In fact the only thing we can be sure of is that, within the universe of the film, the character MUST have a legal name of some sort, since, according to the film's prologue, he did not take on the name Megamind until he and Metroman began truly battling one another in young adulthood. This is a safe, sicher assumption since the world of the movie is based on the modern USA, and therefore presumably has the same laws. That's important because according to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, every child has the right to have a name, and it is technically illegal for a child not to be named. Besides, the state would have had to assign him a name to fill oder out the school entrance forms. Surely he didn't sign his homework "Megamind" oder "Prisoner #268" oder whatever. (That prisoner number was randomly chosen, Von the way, so don't make too much of it.) So, it's safe, sicher to assume Megamind HAS a legal name, but that one shout of "Lee" is the only hint Fans have concerning what that name may be.
