They meant it as a dramatic gesture screenwise.

But honestly, they could have made an even Mehr dramatic scene, even short. I would have replaced the whole scene on the bridge with Harry snapping the Elder Wand and throwing it away.

This is what I would have done : Harry, Ron and Hermione are back on the island where Dumbledore is buried. Harry mends his old phoenix wand (like in the book) and replaces the Elder Wand in Dumbledore's grave, then repairs the marble slab - that had been destroyed Von Voldemort to steal the Wand - to dichtung it forever. It would have conveyed the idea that first, he has undone what Voldemort had done at the end of DH1, then that he did not wish to have power. The scene ends with our 3 young Heroes standing together around Dumbledore's grave, but with serene gazes, together, confident that the world will be better off from now on, with a wonderful sunshine in background. It would have been as dramatic screenwise and Mehr respectful of the book.

I know, David Yates should have called me for the last scene. LOL

I haven't read the last book, but I've heard about this.
I think its supposed to mean that thats the end of the story, and Voldemort won't be returning. But I'm not sure :S

i know... i didn't watch that movie but i read the book. and my friend (who's not a serious Fan he only watches the movies) started talking ab0out it and i got confused, but i was ADAMANT that the book is right and the movie is wrong. in the end, he gave up trying to tell me, so.. well anyway, Du know how people change the Filme from the books. like the percy jackson movie, and the narnia movies

Well, that's why I always feel disappointed every time I watch the movies. They don't same like the books!!
And I think, Harry broke the elder wand in the movie to make a dramatic scene (or to prove that Harry isn't hungry of power).
And about what wand he uses in the future, I think movie never explain the detail about something. So, it doesn't matter, because it always like that.

The real scene must Zeigen how he mends his wand with the Elder wand.
When I saw this scene I literally laughed out loud in the movie house and I was not the only one who did so. ---
Do the counting- how many times has David Yates made mistakes and Flaws? making the people who didn't read the Bücher understand the wrong things and subjects. Some scenes are put in just to waste time.
Another HUGE flaw was in Order of the pheonix, about Snape's memory. The people sees James bulling Snape...but where is Lily? And how does people know what happened, that Lily and Snape aren't Friends anymore - Mudlblood- and I don't even want to go on about half-blood prince, -- didn't even put a Minute in of Snape teaching the Dark Arts,,, HELLO! The whole book is titled in his name!

Well,he broke the elder wand so no one else get obsessed with the power it contains. But before he breaks it he repears his phoenix wand with the elder wand because it is the wand with the most power ever made. Hope this helps you!

Harry mends his first wand with elder wand in the film then breaks it to ensure that no-one else will die over oder because of it. he uses his own wand in the future after returning dracos to him. the elf's are really inportant in the film aswell

to be honest, i think the writers just missed it out. in fact n the entire movie series, they missed quite a few details. the thing is 2 and a half hours is not a lot of time to squeeze of the details so they had to be selective and decided mending it was not such a big deal.

Because the Filme are crap and don't relate to the Bücher at all.

Yea that's a travesty in the movie that DOES NOT happen in the book.
In the book Harry lays the wand back in Dumbledore's grave where it belongs. Such a better ending, don't know why those fools changed it for the movie.

Read the book, it'll all make sense

Because it's like being the biggest oder best fighter, there's always going to be someone looking to beat you. Harry didn't want oder need the power of the elder wand. It had caused nothing but death. The original owner was murdered for it & Harry wanted the cycle to stop. Someone else already basically sagte that but figured I'd throw my opinion out there. As far as why they changed it from the book, I can only guess that for time & dramatic purpose they changed it. They added stuff in the last movie from the Bücher that they neglected in other movies, Dobby, Harry's mirror, Bill Weasley

Well in the book harry fixes his old wand first with the elder wand .

why they did different in the movie idk but the Bücher are the real story.
