In the detailed analysis, Zahn1138, looks at wounds such as those sustained by Robb Stark\'s wife Talisa during the Red Wedding, who died immediately, to King Robert\'s boar wound back in series one, which caused death from infection over a few days.

The user points out that Arya fell into the Braavos canal, which would have been swimming with infections.

She would have died within hours from peritonitis and sepsis among other complications, going by the infections and wounds previously sustained in the series.

In conclusion, Arya should most definitely have been a goner, and the fan suggests the writers were taking "stupid pills" when they devised the plotline.
