It was called Are Sansa and Davos a team in Game of Thrones S6?
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Season 6 premiere, and diehard fans are starting to string together theories about what will happen to their favorite—and sometimes not-so-favorite—characters.
has shined a light on a new theory, brought to a frothy boil by Redditor Fallofmen10. If you don’t want to know potential SPOILERS, kindly turn away now.
Fallofmen10 asks an interesting question: will Sansa Stark and Davos Seaworth team up in
The question was inspired by two images, one from each of the two trailers we’ve gotten for Season 6. In the first trailer, we see Sansa, looking quite posh, almost as if she’s had a chance to have a bath, don a new black dress and furs, and get her hair did.
The next photo is of Davos from the second trailer. It looks like he’s standing in the same room—notice the chandelier behind both of their heads. Also notice the similar coloring, and the lighting—light seems to be coming in from a bank of high windows.
So the theory here is that Sansa and Davos will meet at some point in the season. But where do they meet? Well, we know that Davos is at Castle Black at the beginning of Season 6. Given that Sansa knows Jon Snow is now Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch (she wouldn’t have gotten news of his death yet), she might make for the castle after getting safely away from Winterfell, probably with Brienne’s help.
Castle Black contains a room called the Shieldhall, where the knighted men of the Night’s Watch hang their shields along the wall. Notice the shield behind Davos’ head. It seems to be a bear, the sigil of the Mormonts of Bear Island. It may be Lord Commander Jeor Mormont’s. When a knight dies, his shield is removed and burned with the knight, but Lord Commander Mormont’s body was never returned to Castle Black, so his shield might still be hanging there.
It’s also possible that they’re meeting elsewhere, possibly at the seat of House Mormont, or wherever Sansa gets herself after escaping from Ramsay. As in
, Davos may be out canvasing Northern lords. (But for who? And for what reason? Many questions remain.) If he runs into Sansa during his trip, it could be an interesting meeting indeed. Assuming Davos is still trying to unseat the Boltons from Winterfell, a trueborn Stark heir could make a powerful ally.
Season 6 better hurry and get here, because my tinfoil hat is too hot to wear at the moment.

I thought they might just be in the Shield Hall but the sigils on the wall match (if it were the Shield Hall you’d see different types of sigils). So I think they are on Bear Island (and of course Lyanna Mormont’s letter stayed in the show). And anyone who would be on the Wall would also know about the Others, making Davos’ speech here redundant.
I love both Sansa and Davos and think pairing them is inspiring. Very keen to see what they do with the two of them. I can see Sansa becoming sort of a more mature Shireen surrogate for him, and he can likewise be a sort of father figure to her.
Definitely a Stark banner being held behind him in that gif.
I don’t think this deserves an article, we’ve known from months that Jon and Sansa share scenes this season. The tidbit about the mormont banner hanging on the wall was spotted and discussed on the comments the day of the release of the second trailer. Might add that those banners plus those of house Hornwood stand next to the wildings during the Snowbowl.
I’ve seen that chandelier before. They could be in Winterfell after the Battle of the Bastards. That would explain Sansa all cleaned up and holding court as Wardeness of the North.
I like the idea of Sansa making her way to the Wall. It would fall in line with her being told by Ramsay that Jon Snow had become the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, and it would also be somewhat in keeping with the books that Jon’s sister was supposed to be on her way to the Wall(even though it was not really his sister that Mel saw in her vision) . It would be another example of the show sort of flipping things around so that “real” characters take the place of “fake” characters. With that in mind, it would make sense that Davos is actually talking to Sansa about the the threat of White Walkers and the need to unite people to that cause.
I haven’t seen anyone talk about this yet but I noticed in that clip on the trailer where Melisandra is on a horse in thick red robes outside of Castle Black, you see at the bottom left the edge of a nice dress. Its greenish and very nice floral (maybe) material. Idk who else would be in a dress like that except Sansa.

Where do you see that? I can’t make out anything like that in the picture you mentioned… I checked the high-res pic and to me, there is only a horse’s leg in the snow and a bit of the edge of a grey cloak or something similar.
The fabric in the edge of the picture is the same fabric of the cloak Sansa is wearing in the pictures of her that were released at the same time. It is grey with a darker grey or black vine like pattern.
I can’t find it again :/ but someone told me that BecauseGeek pointed it out in YouTube video as well…So I’m currently on a video watching binge. Her videos are actually spectacular. Maybe my new favorite. If I see her mention it I’ll let u know which video.
This looks more like an image from Mel’s return to Castle Black. In fact, too much like it. Look at her closely, note her expression and how she carries herself, then go watch the episode.
BecauseGeek makes mistakes in how she interprets stuff. She reads in more than there is sometimes.
Nevermind whom the cloak belongs to, the photo was released as a promo for season 6 and labeled as such (I think it’s from Ep5).
Who can Sir Davos serve after Stannis’ death, so someone can avenge Stannis for him?
The Boltons? They kill Stannis (Brienne just beat them to it). The Lannisters? No way. Only the Starks are the the logical choice and Sansa is the only known Stark who is still alive.
Sansa needs a “consigliere” and Davos is a perfect fit.
So Davos teaming up with Sansa is not a theory, it’s the only solution, for both sides.
While Sansa has looked to Littlefinger as a mentor and advisor,Davos would certainly be a far better one. Davos may team up with Mel for awhile, but I’m not sure that is a relationship that will endure. Davos has been a man who has given good advise and is not afraid to speak his mind. Sansa would do well to follow his advice. I think that if Jon is resurrected that Davos will follow him. The pictures do have things in common, but it might just be a meeting of several different parties who share the same goal- taking back the north.
Could that be a Banner of House Reed in that Hall? I hope the Mormonts, Reeds, and other Northern lords follow Sansa/Jon. Love to see Davos as there advisor and fatherly figure as the take their revenge on Freys/Boltons/Lannisters
Here’s hoping House Seaworth is rewarded with The Dredfort for loyal service.
It would be wonderful for Sansa to finally have someone like Davos at her side. Davos is kind, honourable and a wise advisor and we can trust he will not be using her as a pawn. My heart grows warm thinking she will finally have a father figure at her side for the first time since season 1. I hope it’s not just wishful thinking.
I’m sick of all the Sansa talk. Sansa this, and Sansa that. She’s had a rough time. So have a lot of characters. She’s just (up till this point) a toothless tiger who doesn’t have the ability to stand up for herself. My least fav character. If any Starks have to die I hope it’s her. No offense to the Sansa lovers. I’ve just pretty much reached maximum exposure regarding a character I don’t even like.
Poor thing … you’ll have a hard time watching Queen Sansa … Sophie Turner is so excited about this season that I think Sansa will be empowered and have a great plot … but there is hope for you. If she is the hero of the season, she might die in the season finale or next season …
The letter from Lyanna Mormont to Stannis was the foreshadowing of the Stark rise in the north, and Davos sure as hell won’t want to stick around Castle Black when he finds out about Jon.
Brienne hands her off to Davos before catching up with her book role in the Riverlands? I’ll take it! 9 days and 22.5 hours left – cannot….freakin….wait!
Could it be part of the storyline in the books with Davos going to look for Rickon? Sansa did just find out that both Rickon and Bran are alive from Theon and could possibly take the place of Lord Manderly in sending Davos to look for Rickon?
It makes sense that Sansa would go to the Mormonts for initial refuge and then to start raising the north. It is run by women – Castle Black is in chaos and not safe for her with Jon out of action. It is a shortcut for the show to use the Mormonts as northern good guys because we have had constant links with them throughout the series. It makes sense that Davos would try going there because of that letter. The only thing is geographically it is a bit far away.
i agree that it has to be bear island. Too many bear shields to be anything else. Also, I’ve always thought that bit of dress in the pic of Mel leaving castle black (which I’ve read elsewhere is from episode 5) had to be Sansa. Who else?
All of the visual cues seem to indicate a very prominent and exciting story for Sansa this year. I used to hate the character, but she gets better every year and her mistakes and her suffering last year have made me root for her. So I’m excited to see her story this season.
I definitely think she will have some sort of relationship w Davos. The stark banner behind him among other things seems to confirm it. I’m hoping for a JS comeback by episode 4, hopefully one witnessed by Sansa. It looks like she might make it to Castle Black, and you have to figure that means shaking off LIttlefinger. So then what happens to him? Could he actually die? It’s an interesting thought. If I wasn’t so sure that LSH is never happening on the show, I’d bet on that.
As to Brienne, I’m assuming Sansa sends her off either to find Arya or to do something in Riverrun. It can’t be to ask for help from Blackfish, since he is probably under siege.
And why should Theon leave, I wonder? We are all assuming he goes to Pike, I think because he was with the actress who plays Yara. But none of the previews put him there, do they? She might be hugging him but why should he go back.
I think it must have something to do with the arrival of Euron who most probably claims the Seastone Chair after Balon’s demise. Euron could be a sexist prick and deny Yara her birthright, so she could go find Theon in order to strengthen the claim of Balon’s children…
When the pictures leaked, we talked in this site about the picture of Melissandre and that fabric which seems to be Sansa’s dress or cape. I agree the fabric is so out of place and the only explanation is Sansa. Also, Brienne’s picture looks like she is at Castle Black. The door near her looks broken … I also wonder why did Brienne leave Sansa in the North and went to the Riverlands??? Brienne wouldn’t leave Sansa with Stannis people. Also, Why did Theon leave Sansa alone with strangers ??? Maybe they didn’t. They leave her with Jon. It would be great if they witness Jon’s resurrection.
Sansa is still the legit Stark until they find Rickon and she would need to go to convince The Mormonts and other bannermen.
So she is saying ‘I want what was taken from me’ and he’s saying
‘ and their eyeline is in the same direction so it looks to me like they’re pleading their cause to someone (my guess is Jon FWIW) And yea it’s possible they’re disagreeing about which should be a priority but either way the fact that Davos & Sansa meet up and are fundamentally on the same side seems natural to me and I can’t see what all the fuss is about.
I do think it’s interesting though – the whole thing has been building up to the bigger picture of the WW and the irrelevance of petty ambitions, revenges, power games etc. And there’s Sansa, after all she’s been through, seen and learned, still trapped by her own selfish little interests.
After this season only 13 episodes remaining?
Uh, no, that is the Mormont Sigil in the background, that has to be Bear Island. Probably they are recruiting them to retake Winterfell (“Bear Island knows no king but the King in the North, whose name is Stark”).
Given the content and context of Davos’ speech, being at Castle Black does not make sense. Going round to raise an army does. Going to Mormont Keep, on Bear Island, would seem a good place to start.
Who doesn’t recall what was in Lady Mormont’s letter? It was worded that way, to grab your attention. Davos would not be preaching to the converted either, as he’ll be known as Stannis’ Hand. His appreciation of what the situation is would be likely to win support.
If Sansa lands there, is that due to being able to use Littlefinger’s teleporter?
Maybe Sansa is revealed after Davos delivers this speech. I’m sure, as he had respect for Jon, he’ll want to protect & serve Sansa. It won’t be because he feels he failed where Shireen was concerned, although it could factor in as incentive to support Sansa.
Whoever suggested this was in Winterfell, post-Battle of The Bastards….. Wrong place, wrong scene. There will be some Bolton survivors amongst their supporters. Davos would be the wrong person delivering a similar speech. That has to come from someone else, who’ll lead the Northern Army to stand against Night’s King and his Army of The Dead.
I couldn’t spot a House Reed sigil in the battle scenes, but I’m sure they’ll be in the BoB. I’m curious as to how Jon will learn of his parentage. Will Bran telepathically tell him, via the ToJ vision? Or, will the mysterious Howland Reed inform him if Jon seeks him out for support? Or, and this would stink, will Jon never know since he’s dead?
A thought…Ramsey can’t die early in the season. Ayra needs to return and gut him or Sansa’s real husband need to take him down with a battle ax, piece by piece for raping his wife with Theon giving detailed instructions as to the method of deconstruction.
If Ayra returns to Westeros I speculate that she will be sent to take a life back that was stolen from the red god…Jon Snow (if he’s brought back). But she will not be able to become no one and loves Jon too much to do it which will probably result in her own death somehow. Only death can pay for life.
“You’re very kind. Someday it’ll get you killed.” – The Hound (to Ayra)
Sansa and Davos could and will likely work together in the future. But the big common thread or really the only common thread between them is Jon. Sansa would not have any reason to trust the former hand of Stannis, and Davos would have no reason to interact with Sansa if wasn’t for Jon.
My tin pot theory is that this is Sansa and Davos together on Bear Island with Lyanna Mormont asking for her support to fight Ramsay Snow. The letter from Lyanna Mormont to Stannis Baratheon in season 5 was a quick introduction, she said she was loyal only to the Starks and Davos was present when that letter was ready by Stannis and Jon Snow. Davos is going to be raising an army for the Starks to win back Winterfell, destroy the Boltons and use Winterfell as the northern fortress from which to fight the White Walkers. The gif in this article shows as much. Davos in armour on horseback with the Stark banner behind him. This season is going to freaking epic!!
If you look at the core, it is all about getting past revenge. Tyrion had his revenge, and boy did Varys had to do a job to move Tyrion out of his delirium! Arya had part of her revenge and has to live with the consequences. Sansa tried to exact revenge on the Boltons and failed utterly in season 5. Everybody fits this bill. Cersei, Theon, Jamie, Margaery, Davos and finally Dany (and Jon?!) – they all will have to take up a position towards their revenge.
As for Brienne’s quest – could it be that she looks for Valyrian Steel swords and their wielders in the riverlands?
Iwan talking about Roose’s wife (0:44). Walda is pregnant “as well”, and that’s a big problem for Ramsay. Pregnant AS WELL?
