Is it true Ewan McGregor turned down the role of James Bond, and now regrets it?

I was just wondering, because I think he would be perfect for that role..

It was true he turned down the role, but I'm not sure if he regrets it. I mean, being a big James Bond Fan myself, I can picture him being the BOND, but I personally think he will not regret it, because of his superb Schauspielen skills, which he portrays in all his films, including the Kürzlich film, Engel and Demons, where he plays the Irish priest. Oh! He is such a great actor! I Liebe him!

Thanks for your answer! I would have loved him as Bond too, to bad the turned it down. And he really was great in Engel & Demons!
