There’s nothing like receiving a heartfelt compliment from a friend to make you feel amazing. While we are constantly talking about characters who complement each other, today we’re celebrating all the characters who give compliments. Check out this list of compliments from Disney movies and our brief analyses of when they’re most appropriate to use.
Even though telling someone they are beautiful seems like a pretty standard compliment, when you say it with heart and authenticity, it can mean the most. It also carries a lot of weight when you say it to the sister you haven’t spoken to for some time even though you live in the same house.
We all have our off days: We can’t always feel like the most handsome, rugged man in each of our respective villages. Let us all hope that we have a friend like Lefou who can step in to remind us how truly beloved we are by all—an accompanying song singing our praises would also be a nice touch.
Perhaps you don’t have the best way with words when it comes to talking to your crush (a possible byproduct of spending your days trying to survive the streets of Agrabah). Fortunately, when you meet someone special, what you
When people make a hard choice and do the right thing, recognizing their behavior will make them as happy as a Pooh bear with a heaping pot-full of hunny. Plus, Winnie the Pooh is one of the most positive characters around, and is always trying to see the best in people; we like that.
“Look in that mirror. I see a strong, confident, beautiful young lady.”
fan, you probably recognize that this quote was actually said by Mother Gothel … about herself. It is true that possessing an Australian accent makes uttering this compliment sound extremely cool, but it’s not necessary to pull it off. Use this compliment whenever you are proud of a friend’s accomplishment, whether it’s passing that important test, or recognizing that “fish are friends, not food.”
“The greatest gift and honor is having you for a daughter.”
We feel our hearts melt a little whenever we hear this compliment in
. What kid wouldn’t want to hear this from their parent?
Life can be competitive, but recognizing the strengths of others helps everyone soar higher. Feel free to use this compliment format as a template, with whichever quality you want to substitute for “wingspan.” Ex. “Wow. Impressive penmanship. Very good.”
don’t shy away from showering Jack Skellington with praise. Appropriate opportunities to use compliments of this variety might include attending a One Direction concert, casually running into Oscar Isaac on the street, or seeing Ben walk on-screen on every week’s episode of
“Roz, my tender, oozing blossom, you’re looking fabulous today. Is that a new haircut? Come on, tell me it’s a new haircut, isn’t it? It’s got to be a new haircut.”
It’s of utmost importance to pay attention to when people have gotten haircuts. There’s no better compliment than one on a fresh haircut (this holds true in both the worlds of monsters and humans).
