7 Signs You’re Probably Dressing Like a Disney Character
All Disney characters have distinct signature styles. For example, Jasmine mastered the crop top and harem pant look, Peter Pan made green tights look good, and no one accessorizes with clam shells like Ariel.
If you aren’t aware by now, some of these signature styles have made their way into the fashion industry. Taylor Swift wore Jasmine’s look to the Video Music Awards, Milly showed green tights on the runway, and Wildfox has shell-printed tops and tunics. While some fashion trends are only inspired by Disney, others are far too familiar. Which character’s style do you channel?
1. If you mix all-black textured materials and you happen to throw on some round glasses, you’re probably dressing like Edna Mode. We love Edna because she’s not afraid to push boundaries, and stay true to her edgy style.
2. If you wear cargo pants with a black turtleneck, there’s no doubt you’re channeling Kim Possible’s chic combat look. We love the chunky turtleneck sweater with olive pocketed pants; this look is the perfect combination of comfort and fashion.
3. If you match shades of neutral suede with turquoise jewelry, you’re probably dressing like Pocahontas. With suede and fringe being such huge trends of this season, it’s hard not to think of Pocahontas.
4. When you wear head-to-toe primary colors with a fedora to top it off, we cannot tell a lie, you’re probably channeling Pinocchio. Color-blocking is no easy task, but when done correctly is a great way to show your bright and colorful style.
5. If you wear a long trench with a magnifying glass necklace, there’s no arguing you’re dressing like Basil. We love the clean and chic look of a staple long trench and signature white button-up.
6. There’s a strong chance you’re dressing like the Genie if you wear gold hoop earrings with a chunky gold cuff or bangle on each wrist. Genie may have started the trend back in 1992, but we’ve recently seen the doubled bangles on runways and red carpets today.
7. Lush velvet fabrics have become a reoccurring trend for the winter season. It’s hard not to be reminded of Merida with emerald green velvet dresses like this one from Zara. It’s not easy to match her fiery red hair, but paired with brown boots and gold accessories, you’re definitely simulating her look.
Which character trend are you most likely to wear?
Tagged as: Aladdin (1992), Basil of Baker Street, Brave, Disney Princess), Edna Mode, Genie, Kim Possible, Kim Possible, Merida, Pinocchio (1940), Pinocchio, Pocahontas (1995), Pocahontas, The Great Mouse Detective (1986), The Incredibles (2004)
