Everything Damon did this ep. was yet another proof of his selflessness and how he's really the better brother. Even though things seem bad right now, it will change later on. We've been trough much harder things. Also Damon did say that he still loves her and we know that Elena loves him too, she just won't admit it. She was so jealous, telling everybody about DR. I actualy don't think the episode was bad for DE fans. It showed Damon not taking Sekunde place oder being an after thought for Elena anymore.
