Why were innocents killed in the Bible?

Isn't it wrong to murder innocents? In the Bible, lots of innocents died in the Flood. And during the Passover, the first borns were killed...is that to say that they were evil? I doubt that. And I just don't understand how the innocents should die for the sins of others. Why would God--the one I trusted with everything, do that?

Innocents were killed because of other people's sins. This is to demonstrate that your sin does not only affect you, but the people around you.

Sin happened that is all I can say.

It says in Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fell short of the glory of God. So those people who didn't listen to God during the flood and the Passover they didn't listen to what God was saying

That's what I think too. Du either buy into it, oder Du don't. But Du need to be aware of what Du are (or are not) buying into.

From a Christian standpoint (recall my Agnosticism) I can understand this. First of all, the Old Testament God was far less forgiving than the new Testament, with the birth of Christ. Maybe fatherhood gave him a new perspective on life ;)

But I believe that when he took the children of the Egyptians, as in Passover, and other innocents, as with the floor oder Sodom and Gamorrah (yes, I believe there were even innocents there besides Lot), that in the afterlife, he judged them, and they entered the kingdom of heaven. Whereas the unworthy, the cause for such vengeance, did not.

After all, innocents die all the time today, too. We can only assume it's because God had a plan, and took those innocents into his open arms, and they are now in Paradise.

I will try and give a scripture to explain your questions

1.Isn't it wrong to murder innocents?
The bible does say it is wrong to "murder" innocent people.

2.Why would God--the one I trusted with everything, do that?

I think God knows what he is doing so I don't usually Frage "why" he does what he does, I just hope to learn from it. Since I believe God is the creator and father of my life, I leave his judgement to his own, normally God mentioned why he has done what he has done, but it wasn't a requirement.
But that is my POV.

I think it comes to down to people suffering from the sins of others to be honest.

Also If Du remember during the Flood the bible says "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his herz was only evil continually" Gen 6:5.
So most if not all the world at that point in time were committing great sins, and it was to such an extent that it grieved God that he made man (Gen 6:6). So since man was beyond repentance God destroyed the whole world (except Noah's family).

Then we have Sodom and Gomorrah, another example of people living unrighteous "and" were unrepented. Since God couldn't find ten righteous people he destroyed the cities and all who lived in them.

"how the innocents should die for the sins of others" its not a matter of "must" I think but a matter of "just is". Good things do happen to bad people and vice versa. Sometimes that bad that happens to good people could be "death". The bible mentions people suffering because of the sins of others, its just that simple.

So why all the suffering of innocent people, how is that fair?
Recal Romans 8 28:And we know that all things work together for good to them that Liebe God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Mathew 5:45:That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

I leave most things to God and his judgement because he created everything, so why can't he decide what to do with his creation, right?

I hear from my mother a lot that "If *insert country* doesn't get right with God, his wrath is going to fall upon them like *insert latest country that had a natural disaster*".

I reply "Well that is why I strife for living righteously, because then if the world does get destroyed, I know where I am going."

Good question! I don't think there is ANY excuse to kill innocent people.
That's what terrorists do, and evil people like Pol Pot.
The Israelites "God's chosen race" carried out GENOCIDE on behalf of GOD!

god can do what he wants? who on earth are we to judge him.? he created us, not the other way round. and maybe he felt that the sinners didnt deserve to have children. so he took them away as punishment for diobeying his holy word.

I personally believe the Israelites used God as an excuse to kill people. God would want peace not war. If not, I sure hope God doesnt have something against Italians :|
