When I read that Molly had cancer, which was obviously the reason for her farewell in the series, I kinda felt sad. Because as much as that was unexpected, it still felt cliche. Du know what would have been better? Something else.
So I was Lesen through fiction when I came across this fic: **Detty Hit and Run (written Von englishstudent01). When I read it, it made me realize that this should have been a better exit for Molly. A totally 'in-your-face-you-shouldn't-have-been-here' kind of moment. If this fic happened, I would have rejoiced. To dislike her is one thing, to see her get arrested is something else. Now that's a snow day.
Oh well, I'm an extreme Molly hater and it isn't fair to me that I suddenly have to feel sorry for her just because she's sick. Yeah, I'm an ass.
Anyway. So I was thinking that maybe, the producers had a soft spot for Molly, well, actually, the actress who plays her. The Molly character was so flat. Getting her sick was even Mehr boring than a rock on a desert. That's when I thought that maybe, the actress was such a real-life goody-goody that the producers couldn't stomach the thought of people (well, Dettyers, actually) hating her in real life, considering that people have that tendency to think that actors/actresses are their characters even after filming.
Don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against Sarah Lafleur. I don't even know her; I'm not holding a grudge.
But I say the producers oder writers hit it bad with creating Molly's character. As much as Molly should have 'spiced things up', she was rather, I don't know, a waste of time. She existed just to cause a rift between Daniel and Connor. But we all know what would happen Weiter after that. So now instead of moving on, we (Dettyers) have to put up with Daniel trying to make Molly's life better before she dies. Well, woohoo.
If producers wanted us to see Daniel going all cutesy and make us all go gaga over him, then the obvious secret is to make him do fluff with Betty. Whatever should be fine. We're going to have to deal with that. But please, I beg of you, no Mehr Molly.
No wonder this happened:
"Viewership
Ugly Betty hit below 7 million for the first time, and has Lost 3 million viewers since the debut of Season 3. It is the lowest so far at 6.78 million, and may fall even further with increased competition."*
Hmm. 3 million viewers. Seems like no one cares what happens to Molly. The 3 million probably decided to stop watching for a while and come back when she's finally out.
Sorry, Molly, but Du really have to go.
