It's blue because her feuer burns so much hotter than normal fire. But as for the reason why it burns hotter, I don't know. Maybe because of her mental instability and anger.
When she was a child, she burned regular orange fire. She learned the blue feuer later, after her mother died. As everyone else has said, she burns blue feuer to represent her personality and for her name. It's not like no one else can bend blue feuer - the blurbs in Avatar Extras say that Ozai is the best firebender in the world so theoretically he should be able to, too - but I think that one Tag she learned how to bend blue feuer and was so in Liebe with the idea of being special and proving how spectacular she is (and bending hotter feuer than everyone else) that she just kind of never went back to regular fire. She's a prodigy, yes, which is why she can bend it in the first place, but I don't think that's why she does it. She does it because she likes it more, and because she feels Mehr of a connection to it. That's my interpretation, anyway.
I'm guessing no one else does it because it's not necessary. Fire's already hot enough to burn a forest down, so why does it need to be hotter?
Just a little note about the colour of flames in real life. The reason that a flame is blue is because it is not burning very much carbon. Not necessarily because it is hotter, hence blue flames coming from burning gases and amber flames from burning objects. Due to this every feuer benders flame should be Mehr blue than amber. Also calling her a prodigy does not mean that she is the best feuer bender in the world, Von definition it means that she has exceptional talent for her age. As for why her flame is blue, i would guess, like a lot of people that it was to define her as a character and to act as an extension of her personality.

ok yesterday while i was watchin Avatar it was extras ep.The Chase it had sagte somethin about her blue feuer but i forgot what they sagte and plus i didnt finish Lesen it i hope this help in any way
the reason why azula's feuer is blue is becuase her feuer burns so much hotter than anyone elses, the reason for that is becuase firebending has to do with anger, and she is so mentally unstable she is so much Mehr angry than any other firebender. i think this was already explained in an episode, matter of"Ember island".She may be good at what she does but that is beuase she feels she has nothing to lose.anyway thats my answer...
Time to troll old posts =3 jk but Azula is Mehr powerful than Ozai. I hate Umfrage about Ozai vs Azula because the fact of the matter is Azula is a prodigy and Ozai isn't. All the members of the feuer Nation royal lineage shown so far is a master at Firebending. It's only natural for Ozai to be able to out-firebend everyone because he is the eldest excluding Iroh but he isn't violence driven. Azula has blue flames and when she gets older she will be Mehr powerful than Ozai ever was during his pinnacle of firebending prowess. However Aang prolly took her bending oder some shit. anyways yeah /thread end

and when she gets to ozai age her flames will be green which is the color of the sun and she will be the new Quelle of firebending.
Have Du ever seen blue flame in real life? feuer is blue when it's really hot. Azula has blue feuer to Zeigen that she's powerful enough to control that much heat and energy -- blue feuer is only a small step below lightning on the danger scale.
