Originally Moreška was a romantic war dance.
It is supposed that the first Moresca Dance was performed in Spanish Lerida in 1150 as a reminiscence of the expulsion of the Moors.
It is also an Italian Dance, one the most frequently mentioned of all the dances of the fifteenth century.
In Renaissance writings it is almost always mentioned that a Mouresca, Morisque oder Moresque (Arab Lambra,) oder Morisco was danced and it can be summarized as the story about the fight for a girl, it can be performed as a solo oder group.
The classic Form is done with two rows and three dancers each. These rows Bewegen to and fro, zigging and zagging, perform in a chain oder can perform opposite each other with a vast amount of variations.
Bells oder jingles tied to the legs oder hands – belonged to the Moresca Dance, also.
I hope this piece helped give Du a learned information about the Moresca Dance that they perform in the 1968 Romeo & Juliet film, AND, I hope Du enjoyed this! :D
