Name: Nereus (NairEus) Marina
Age: 17
Descript: His dark hair is just long enough to graze the oben, nach oben of the horn-rimmed glasses that frame turquoise eyes. oder maybe they’re Mehr of a sea green. Their color seems to be in constant flux, the way waves are as they roll toward the shore. His skin is a darkened tan from the frequent hours spent in the sun.
Nerues always seems to be wearing a scrutinizing look, eyes analyzing and features gentle, as if always considering the world around him. His fascination with reality is apparent in the many collections that decorate his home, the cottage at the base of the Happy Harbor lighthouse: bookshelves of novels and guides, a couple of Musik boxes, decorative chests full of photographs and cassette tapes and locks. There’s dishes of those particularly interesting things that he finds along the ocean floor: old coins, sea glass, Lost jewelry and treasures from sunken ships.
Nereus makes a modest living as a the lighthouse keeper. He lives alone, though doesn’t mind the solitude. He never feels alone when so close to the sea.
Background: The son of a water spirit and a human sailor, neither of which are around. He’s named after the god of the sea and means “water” in Greek. Last name is “from the sea”, (Yes, “water from the sea”. So original, I know.)
Notes:
- Water spirits are immortal, but because he is half-human, Nereus is not.
While he does take the form of a human being most of the time, Nereus’s true form is that of pure water (Basically looks like his human form, but is comprised of water and only appears from the waist up. -so no color, duh- Sorry for that terrible description. I'll post a pic if I can find one.) He can only take this form when submerged in water.
As a human he has no special abilities, but as a spirit form he can control the water around him.
Nereus has a constant connection with the sea. The state of the ocean (weather wise) can effect his mood. When the water is especially choppy, he keeps a careful eye on the sea from the oben, nach oben of the light house, watching carefully for ships that may be in trouble. See? He’s kinda a hero ;)
-Is usually dressed in a simple t-shirt and worn cargo shorts oder board shorts.
-Spends a lot of time around the strand oder pier. Doesn't often go very far from the sea.
-Has traveled a bit around the world via sea- along the coast of South America and the USA, Hawaii, Cuba, parts of Africa and Italy to name of few; avoids the cold weather of way up north.
