His footsteps echoed in the mountain base, the clock Lesen well into three in the morning. He knew she wasn't going to be there, but something compelled him to come. Her room was the same as he had last seen. He picked things up, not sure why he had come but not put to rest about where she had gone oder why she hadn't told him. Guilt suddenly swarmed around him. Maybe if he was here more, paid Mehr attention to her...He shook his head.

He could see the sun shine on her hair, see the way her face was so intent on her writing, the smile that always played against her soft lips. He could see it all. With a sigh, he closed the book. He turned to leave when he spotted it. A letter written on an index card. His name was on top. He picked it up and sat on the bed. The letter was simple and straight forward. Just like the person who had written it.
