Ravage Part III 2
Chapter Seventeen:
Cassie banged on the glass Wand of her cell. She retreated, breathing heavily. A man came vorwärts-, nach vorn to deliver her lunch. She grabbed him and rammed him on the glass. She was reaching for his name tag to attempt escape when she fell through the floor.
Cassie screamed as she fell. She kept falling down a long metal pipe until she emerged in a red environment.
She expected to see the rest of Alpha Squad. Instead, all she saw was a man in a blue-black Tron-like suit pointing a sword at her.
"Joy." she said, rolling her eyes.
"Who are you?" he asked. He glanced at her red-black outfit.
"I'm Cassie. What's with the sword at my face?" Cassie replied.
The guy kept it aimed at her. Cassie slowly raised her hands in surrender.
"You're in the Culling. You're wearing the Farben of the Harvest. Is it any wonder I don't trust you?" the guy asked. Cassie could see his well-muscled body tense up underneath his suit. His blue eyes were steely cold and his hair black and waving in the fiery wind.
"I have absolutely no idea what Du just said." Cassie said.
The guy looked her over carefully before sliding his sword up. "Alright, fine." he said, offering his hand to her. "I think I can trust you."
Cassie looked at his hand and took it. He led her down into a valley. They walked for a while until the boy tugged her into a cave and made a shushing noise. Cassie obeyed. Two females walked by, poking a prisoner in the back. The prisoner looked over and Cassie gasped.
It was Barbara.
The females stopped and looked into the cave. The guy picked up a rock and tossed it in the sand behind the girls. They whirled, spears aimed, but nothing was there. They walked vorwärts-, nach vorn cautiously.
As soon as they were out of ear range, the guy rounded on Cassie.
"Are Du trying to get us killed?!" he demanded.
"No! I just-!"
"You recognized the prisoner." the guy said.
"Yeah. How did Du know--um..."
"Liam." the guy replied.
"Okay, Liam. How did Du know--"
"It was a little obvious." the guy replied, checking his weapons. "And I read your emotions."
"You what?!" Cassie exclaimed.
"That's my meta power." Liam replied. "What's yours?"
Here Cassie preceded with caution. "Flight and super-strength. I have some abnormal hand-eye coordination as well."
Liam rounded on her, throwing a dagger. Cassie blocked it with her wrists and grabbed him out of his mid-air leap, slamming him into the wall, her hand around his throat.
"Not bad, WonderGirl." Liam smirked.
Cassie dropped him in shock.
"Your emotions gave it away." Liam said. "And that block with your wrist-bracelets."
Cassie frowned. Liam put his hand on her shoulder. "Rookie of your squad?"
"Yeah." Cassie sagte sadly.
"You're looking for someone." Liam said, walking to the mouth of the cave.
"Yeah. Her name's Artemis. She has blonde hair--"
"Around twenty years old, wears green and black, and is extremely good with a bow and arrow?" Liam asked.
"Yeah." Cassie said. "You know her?"
"Never met her, but in the two days she's been here, she's earned quite a reputation." Liam grinned. "But I know exactly where to find her."
