I ran down the pathway, my long blond ponytail whipping me in the face each time I checked to see how far I was ahead of Brandon. He was still far away, and Mommy and Daddy were even farther behind.
"Irina! Mommy and Daddy sagte not to go too far!" Brandon complained. I stopped in my tracks, and groaned.
"We're not too far! I can still see 'em," I said. Brandon pouted, not satisfied. I sighed. "Fine. We'll wait for them." Finally, after waiting forever, Daddy and Mommy finally caught up to us. I ran up to them, and Dad put his arm on my shoulder. Brandon held Mommy's hand. Mommy smiled at the both of us; her tummy was bigger, holding our new baby brother oder sister. I eyed Brandon and stuck my tongue out at him. We had an ongoing fight whether it would be a girl oder boy. I thought it'd be a girl. Brandon was hoping for a boy.
"You guys wanna go down to the river?" Dad asked. We nodded excitedly.
"Yeah!" we shouted excitedly. We went off the dirt path, and ran through a field of tall grass, until we came to the calm river. Daddy knelt down Weiter to the river, grabbing a stone in his hands.
"Wanna learn how to skip a rock?" he asked. Neither of us answered, but he went on with his little lesson.
"Come on," I whispered to Brandon. We ran up along side the river, and the hügel brought us up higher and higher, then water becoming rougher and rougher.
"Irina! Brandon!" Mom called. She ran after us, laughing.
"Run faster!" I laughed, running even farther away. I heard the river roaring beneath the Earth; it was still noticeable over our screams and laughter.
We then came to the edge of the cliff, and peered down at where the river grew into rapids, splashing and throwing itself against rocks.
“Irina! Brandon! Be careful!” Mom shouted. We stared down beneath us, not listening.
“Whoa…” Brandon sagte in awe. "Did Du see that fish?" he asked, pointing to the water. He leaned down closer, gripping the gras, grass with his fingertips.
"Where?" I asked, bending down to get a closer look. All of a sudden, Brandon was gone. He screamed, and I stared in horror as he tumbled down the rocky hill. "Brandon!" I cried.
"Oh my God!" Mom shouted. She ran up behind me, looking for him. I heard the splash. The water was so rough, and Brandon can't swim. "Stay. Here!" Mom ordered. She slid down after him, and then jumped in after him.
"Daddy!!" I shouted. He still wasn't there. He was probably still where the river was calm. I scooted my way over to the side, and slowly climbed down the cliff. Mommy had wasted no time getting down there, not that I blamed her. There was a part of the cliff that was flat, then it dipped off into the rapids. I was on my hands and knees, looking for a sign of Mom oder Brandon. The water kept splashing, but still no one came up. The roar of the water was deafening, and I couldn't even hear myself screaming.
Just when I'd started to lose hope, Mom came up, gasping for air. She mouthed my name; maybe she called it, I don't know. She used one arm to pull herself through the water, grabbing onto rocks for traction. She had something in her other arm, and I hoped that it was Brandon.
I was right.
She seemed to use all her strength to push Brandon up onto the ledge, and it took a bunch of my strength to help pull him up. He skin was ice cold, and he seemed unconscious. I looked into his eyes; they stared off into nowhere.
"Brandon? Brandon!" I said, shaking his shoulder. There was no response. I looked to Mom, but she was gone.
"Irina?! Brandon!?" I heard a voice call from above me. It was Dad.
"Daddy!" I cried. His head popped out from over the side, and like Mom, he slid down the cliff fast and recklessly.
"Where's Mom?!" he asked. I couldn't speak; it only came out as pained cries. I pointed into the water. He sagte some foul words, and jumped in after her.
"Brandon! Brandon, please!" I pleaded.

I sat in the cold hospital room, fiddling with my fingers. I heard a door creak open, and my Dad's squeaky shoes walk across the tile. My head snapped up, and he looked strange; my tears were blurring up my vision. He knelt down in front of me, and put his hand on my knee. He looked at me. His eyes were red and puffy.
"Let's go home, kid." My throat closed up, and I squeezed my eyes shut.
"What about Mom and Brandon...?" I whispered. He pursed his lips. I wanted to scream.

I jolted awake, my herz beat unbelievably high and fast. I looked around the room, ok, I was still home. It was just a dream. Just a dream... I told myself.
But it'd been a reality seven years ago.
I ran my hands through my matted black hair. I took deep breaths, trying to calm down. I rubbed my teary eyes on my sweatshirt sleeve, and crossed my room to my closet, and got dressed. I carefully untangled my hair from the hantel in my eyebrow; then readjusted the ring in my septum, carefully, because it was still new and healing.
I went to my dresser and mirror, where a picture was placed in the wooden frame of the mirror. It was a picture of a little blond girl, a blond little boy, and a beautiful woman with dark wavy hair. They had their arms around each other, and were beaming brightly. I traced the edges of the photograph with my index finger.
I finished getting ready for school. The house was quiet. I was alone in our ratty old house; Dad was at his girlfrie-- I mean, fiance's house. Kara. I grimaced at the thought of her. I tried to clear my mind and went to the cabinet to grab the fluorescent orange-yellow canister. Crap. There were only four pills left. I'd have to start saving up to buy more; Dad was so caught up in his engagement that he was almost never Home to get me more. I went out to my beat up car, and prayed that it would run; I really didn't feel like running to school today.
It didn't of course.
I stumbled into English class, and everyone paused. It lasted only a couple seconds, then they all returned to their Zurück conversations.
"How lovely of Du to Mitmachen us, Ms. Sieger," Mr. Sullivan said. I looked down to the ground, like a child receiving a scolding. He handed me a couple papers. I only glanced at them, but saw the words "Peer Interview" printed across the top. Oh, joy. "Your partner is Mr. Devlin." I looked to see who he was pointing to.
Standing there was Blake. I was cursing in my head, but hoped to appear unemotional on the outside. He was very tall, much taller than me. He had curly dark brown hair, that nearly covered his eyes. He didn't smile at me, and I didn't smile back.
This would be fun....

"It's nice here. I don't know many people though..." Victor brushed his hair back, smiling again. "Well, Von tomorrow, all of the kids at school will wanna be your friend." "Oh..." Jade turned slightly to see the raven haired boy deep in thought. "What is it?" "Hn? Oh, it's nothing. Oh, we're here." The blonde looked up ahead and saw her house. "Really? Cause my house is right there." She pointed, and Victor burst out laughing. "Haha-I live right Weiter to Du then..." The blonde looked at the house Weiter to hers. It seemed normal. A little old fashioned, but definitely normal. "Cool! Well, I'll see Du tomorrow then?" "Yeah..." The onyx eyed boy took Jade's hand, kissed it lightly, then walked off. "What was that?"
Jade Adams was making her way Home when she saw him. The dark haired kid everyone had been talking about earlier today was walking in the same direction she was. "Hey! You're the new kid in school right?" "Hn?" The boy turned around to face Jade, making her herz skip a beat. He had to be one of the most strikingly beautiful people she had ever seen. He was pale, with onyx colored eyes, and jet black hair that hung over his eyes slightly. "H-hi. I'm Jade..." the poor girl was at a loss for words when he flashed his dazzling smile at her. "Hey, I'm Victor." She blushed slightly and readjusted her Slipknot tee over her black skinny jeans. "Soo... what road do Du turn onto to get home?" "I turn onto Salem road, what about you?" Victor looked over at her again, scratching his head awkwardly. "Me too! Wanna walk Home together?" "Sure!" The blonde girl started walking ahead, leaving Victor o follow. "So, how do Du like it here?"
