 Victoria and Abdul!
Victoria and Abdul!
Hi guys, I had seen this Sekunde movie about Queen Victoria, only this time, it's about her relationship with Abdul Karim, the Indian Munshi.

The Story

So the film is basically a sequel to the 1997 film, Mrs. Brown, like the Scottish John Brown, Abdul also faces hostility with the Royal Family. They attempted to persuade Queen Victoria to expel Abdul from the court, like what she did to Sir John Conroy during her younger days, but it did not work!
When her son, King Edward VII ascended the British throne. He destroyed all of John Brown's and Karim's properties, unlike the former, Abdul was still alive and Edward VII expelled him and his family back to India. Sadly, he died at the age of 46.
It was a pretty interesting historical film, where we see at the ending where they sagte that India gained independence from the UK in 1947 prior becoming a republic 3 years later.

The Characters

Judi Dench did a remarkable job playing Queen Victoria, as a matter of fact, she reprise her role in this film as she had previously play the Queen back in Mrs. Brown.
The one thing I did not like was the actor playing her son and successor, King Edward VII (A.K.A Bertie), especially that awfully looking eyebrow, because he looks really angry for the majority of the film! In fact, he looks a LOT like his son, King George V.
It was also interesting to see Michael Gambon playing the Prime Minister in this film, ironically he had previously played both Edward VII and George V in the 2003 miniseries 'The Lost Prince' and the 2010 film 'The King's Speech' respectively.
Ali Fazal, who played Abdul was fantastic! I was surprised that this film is his Sekunde film since Furious 7 (he played a minor role in the mentioned film), but insgesamt his Schauspielen was flawless in this film.

The Filming Location

I absolutely adored going to India, especially the Taj Mahal as seen in the final scene! I had only been to Buckingham Palace, but never Windsor schloss in London! In fact, Northern India really fascinates me and I have been a Fan of Aishwarya Rai. So, the trip will definitely improve my History of India!

A Royalty Welcome

Speaking of Royalty, do Du all know that this Jahr will be 2 Royal Weddings taking place in the United Kingdom? So, congrats to both Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie!
I also hope that Du guys enjoy this film as much as I do!
