Do Du think Jessup Dolly (Ree's Father) was a bad person with his meth labs and constantly skipping town and bail?

I think he didn't mean to be a bad person, since many of the people in the area where Ree lives they do have meth labs in order to support their families, but at the same time Du can't help but feel sorry for Jessup and the situation he was put in because he had no other to support his family. I think he never meant to put Ree in the position that she's in in the movie, but then again, her Father didn't have a choice and neither did she.
