U.S. Democratic Party Frage

Fellow Wisconsinites, do think Walker will actually get impeached?

Personally, I don't think we stand a chance. Even those with nothing vote Republican! Americans are so selfish and brainwashed! I hope that liberal woman (can't remember her name) doesn't go up against him, but it's gotta be better than nothing. My family can't afford private education!

As a teacher, I despise Walker's policies and tactics as much as the Weiter liberal. I think that the policies he proposed to help improve the budget were misguided, ill-considered, and yes, maybe even the product of a vendetta against unions, oder a plot to gain political points with others who have vendettas against unions.

However, calling all Americans "stupid and selfish" just because some of them disagree with Du on an economic policy plan is not only unfair and untrue, it completely dismisses the idea of asking about why they hold that opinion in the first place.

Republican oder conservative fiscal policy is not utterly baseless. There is a method to their apparent madness, and I honestly believe that the majority of them are sincerely trying to do what's best for the country as a whole. I don't begrudge them that - I hope they continue to try and do what's best for our country, as I am trying to do. Just because we disagree about what the best way to improve this country is doesn't mean either one of us is selfish and stupid.

Instead of calling them names, why don't we ask ourselves why people think differently than we do. Nine times out of ten, people have good reasons for voting the way they do.

That being said, impeachment is rare even in cases with the most obvious foul play. So I doubt it.

I'm hoping we get someone new but I think it will be pretty close. I can't say that I'm 100% sure that Walker won't win in the recall election, because there are still a lot of republicans who will vote for him. I think the best chance we have is to try to get the people who don't usually vote and the moderates to help vote Walker out. I suspect that there will be a much larger turnout for this election. So that may help us. Personally, I'm hoping our new governor will be Kathleen Falk. Though, I would still support Barret over Walker. I don't think any of the other candidates really stand a chance of winning the primary.

I think we stand a better chance then Du think. Du may just live in an area with a majority of republican voters. Although, your right that the average American is heavily brainwashed. The general public not only has a very short memory, but their knowledge lags far behind the scientific knowledge of the age, and they are very easily influenced Von propaganda. An interesting read if you'd like to know Mehr about how a conservative's brain works is "The Righteous Mind" Von Jonathan Haidt. It's all about the psychology of partisans and it's not biased either way. Haidt is Liberal, but he gives conservatives a fair representation. I think that even a conservative would agree that Haidt represents them accurately.

I can totally empathize with Du about struggling to pay for education. I'm going to college right now and if the student loan interest rate doubles, I'm going to be screwed. I'm only 19 and I'm already in debt. That's pretty sad. We need Mehr educated people in this country, not less. Making education an expensive luxury that only the rich can afford will be devastating to our whole country.
