Edward was late. He was usually dead on eight if he didn’t turn up before. It was half past eight and I was worried. I paced up and down the living-room. Jacob sat on the couch and watched me. He was just as worried as I was. Edward had impeccable time-keeping, he would call if he was going to be late, he didn’t leave me in the dark like this.
